SamH
I have no idea what a 2m tank should cost, I don't get tanks made that size, nor am I a glazier or aquarium manufacturer. Relax, I was just asking you how long ago you got it made seeing as the price of glass has gone up, I wasn't attacking you.
nudge
All good mate my reply wasn't heated and i apologise if it came across that way, that price still blows me away.
SamH
Not what I'd pay for an aquarium either, he is further South though so maybe that justifies a higher price.
smidey
my 2.0m tank was under $400 from greg.
David R
Using brand new glass vs offcuts will have a drastic effect on price. $1600 for a tank that size with newc12mm doesn't sound far fetched, but there is no reason suitable sized offcuts couldn't be sourced for a lot less. jasonnz
I paid $1500 for a tank only slightly larger made from new glass. I think the price is fine to be honest.
alanmin4304
Offcuts are brand new glass but offcuts, and are usually a lot cheaper than "non offcuts". The problem is that the thicker the glass, the bigger the panes in use are so the bigger the offcuts. Thinner glass can be used for smaller windows so the offcuts are smaller. For this reason the prices can be close to the same. It depends a lot on how many tank builders are in line for the offcuts. If there are not many then it will cost them a pile of money to dump the offcuts. The price will also be a lot less if you buy all their offcuts and cut it yourself (and pay to get rid of the waste). There are a lot of variables but I would expect prices to be similar all over the country. The NZ dollar has gone up a lot of late so the price of glass would be up on what I was paying. jim r
My 2.4m x 60 x 60 from Greg was $450 about 5 years ago.
alanmin4304
I bought the glass precut for a 1600x600x600 in 10 mm about that time for $250. Would be more now but not too much I think.

Godly3vil
I would say it is, personally I think they should be telling the truth if it is and saying customer was not happy with the half ass job they did of building it and bracing it. Also isn't 10mm glass a bit on the thin size for a tank this big?

Sophia
I think we should leave the bloke to sell his tank now and not stir. You got most of your money back and he is entitled to try and sell it whether or not he fixed the faults. The buyer should view something that size before paying for it, common sense on a large purchase.
