recycled oldy
Hi, I am new to the hobby in terms of modern NZ practice. I kept and exhibited tropical freshwater fish in the UK about 50 years ago, then in South Africa in late 1960s. In NZ as from 3 days ago! I have bought an AR980 complete kit and am currently setting up, hence my account name. Much has changed, the AR980 being rocket science compared to my previous steel framed tanks. Hopefully the end result will still be healthy fish and plants as before. I live in Taupo.

fishy-fish
welcome back to the hobby! I too have recently returned to fish keeping after having a spell out of it, but I think my 15 year hiatis dwindles in comparison! Glad to have you here  Any thoughts on what you may stock your new tank with?
LYNDYLOO
Welcome Back  AR 980's are great Tanks, I have one myself, never had any issue's with it, would recommend replacing the filter for an external one depending on your stock level Look forward to hearing what you are going to stock. recycled oldy
Many thanks for all the welcomes, much appreciated. Regarding stocking, not too ambitious at present, I just want to establish an attractive well planted community tank with tetras, corys, RT shark, etc. and a couple of flame/neon gouramis I have my eye on. Maybe I will stop at that, (but I thought that last time and Malawi cichlids do look attractive!). regards.
LYNDYLOO
Have filled my AR980 with Electric Yellows, Demasoni and Red Top Ice Blues, looks fabulous :happy2: Have had several different looks previous to tmy Malawai's, but ahve to say they would be the most atice, just  them. Look forward to photo's when you got it sorted :bounce:
