  1. ive got several orders from fish-street without drama. I'm happy to recommend.
  2. +1 weldon from mulfords is what you need
  3. Your tank is far more suited than this one. Remember this is really 2 x 1200 unless you can remove the middle divider. Even if you could it's still around 300L less than your tank.
  4. The footprint (lenght and width) is certainly far more important than height. Length is the mose important factor but width is also important, especially when dealing with mbuna - but you keep haps and peacocks right? I can't see a problem with this tank size but I would definitely check it out before bidding. Good luck!

  12. I feel a little early Easter humour is perfect in this situation... Moderator: "Who shall we release to you, blueether or Barabas?" Angry Fishroom Mob: "Give us Barabas! Give us Barabas!" Moderator: "So what shall we do with blueether?" Angry Fishroom Mob: "Crucify Him! Crucify Him!" Moderator: "Why? What crime has he committed?" Angry Fishroom Mob: "He has taken sarcasm too far! Crucify Him Crucify Him!" Moderator: "So be it. I wash my hands of you blueether..."
  13. He's still young and in the first couple of months of colouring up. A wee way to go yet!
  14. 90mm bracing is good. Same for the bottom. For silicone, I use Selleys Glass All Clear.
  15. Yip they're in a 60L on their own and the two sponge filters provide heaps of airation. Are they just lazy eaters?? I'm stumped?
  16. Good on you for having a go at DIY'ing a tank... and a big one too! I agree with squirt, 12mm would be required for 700 high. It's the height that exponentially increases the glass thickness required. Drop the height down to 600 and you may get away with 10mm. As far as building it, the front, back and sides would sit on top of the bottom and the sides sit inside the front and back. Therefore for a 1500x600x700 in 12mm you would requrie the following sizes: Bottom = 1500 x 600 Front and Back = 1500 x 688 (700 less thickness of bottom if you want a true 700 high) Sides = 576 (width less 24mm for front and back glass) x 688 (as above) Of course on top of this you'll need bracing and lids. Good luck and keep us posted!
  17. Forgot to mention that i've had a few deaths. About 2 or 3 each day! :tears: I have checked PH and Ammonia, Nitrates etc and all seems normal enough. I give them fresh vege each day and don't leave it in there longer than 12hrs so that it doesn't foul up the tank and I'm also increased my water changes daily to try and help. I have two sponge filters in the tank which is an established tank, all I did was remove the substrate before adding the fry. I have a piece of wood from another one of my tanks and a terrecotta pot also from a cycled tank. I have a small power head that pushes the water around at 300L/hr - certainly nothing to intense. The dead fry seem to have bloated bellies?? Any ideas?
  18. I'm certainly not basing an I.D. on the fry however they were sold to me as LDA72. Yes, experienced fishkeepers did say they were common bristlenose but now they're saying the fry are different to common bristlenose... so I still don't have a positive I.D. I'd be interested to know if anyone has kept and bred LDA72 and could take a look at the photos. I'm not fussed either way, it would be good to know though. The reason I've posted all these photos is because I want a correct I.D. as I will be selling the fry. Anyway, here's another couple of update photos. As always your 2 cents is welcomed!

  20. I have a large sheet of 6mm glass 1940 x 1180 and I'm looking to build a sump for my 330L tank. It will go underneath the tank in a metal frame stand. The stand is 2900 long and 550 wide. The gap underneath for the sump is 480 wide (inside metal framing) x 470 high and of course I can make it as long as I want. The main tank is 1408 long so will take up half the stand and in due course I will build a duplicate for the other side. The first issue is allowing enough room at the top of the sump to be able to get in and out if needed. Ideally it would be great to double as an isolation tank so I need to be able to catch a fish if required. I was thinking a sump 1180(l) x 450(w) x 350(h) This will give me around 100-120 between the top of the sump and the frame allowing for a bit of poly underneath the sump tank. So based on these dimensions, what sort of sump design should I look at? I'm still undecided on what i'll be stocking the tank with. It will either be another african tank or I will try my hand at a plec tank with a few corys and dither fish. I would want about 3000L/hr water turn over. Here's a sketch of the set up... Any advice or design concepts welcome!
  21. cracked out ET 1.0 for an emergency tumble with much better results. Out of 50 eggs, I can only see 2 or 3 that haven't reached heads & tails stage and are looking a bit milky coloured. Maybe the design is OK? I still like the cone/coke bottle idea and it's low tech which is easily replicated. Will give building one a go soon.
