Mel
Hi all, i haven't posted here for quite sometime, but thought i'd share afew pictures of our pond, the plants are finally starting to "grow into" the pond and giving shade so we aren't having as much issues with the greenness of the water. Found my first new baby from this years spawning today YAH!! happy some have survived. The pond is still very much "work in progress" we have still yet to finish off the filter box / waterwall / plantbox ... that will go on the back ledge by the fence recent pic's taken afew weeks ago waterlily flowers only seem to flower 2/3 days, shame they are so pretty but I am having alot of buds had at least 8 flowers now with still more to open in this pic you can see the planter box starting to take shape .. slow process though

Ira
Looks good. Might want to move that dead dog though, may contaminate the pond...

Mel
Hi all, I am not sure what has happened to the first pictures I posted when i started this thread .. but i thought i'd do abit of an update as alot has happen to my pond .. Firstly here are afew pics of what it originally looked like, before it's renovation .. Over the xmas break, we decided to give it a makeover, .. well really not intending on it, but we knew it had a leak or leaks so really needed to find and fix the leak ... so this is what happened So deciding that we like the way it looked and thinking "lets make it bigger and deeper on one end" this happened... We decided to line it this time with heavy duty polythene, simply because we didn't want the hassle of it leaking again and it was cheaper lining it than sealing it. Pond now works out to roughly hold 5000 litres. Mr turtle checking it all out Getting the plants and fish in ... Planter box going the length of the pond for the marginal plants .. yet to be planted There is still alot more to do, the rocks on the top still need to be put on and garden around the pond is yet to go in ... we are paving/landscaping our backyard so as that work progresses the pond will have work done aswell. Mel
And 3 more photo's of the pond pictures taken today... If you're wondering, the green blanket is azolla and i have used a garden hose floating to keep in one area, i like the stuff but didn't want it all over the place lol .. anyone know of something else i can use instead of the unsightly hose? F15hguy
goldfish normally keep it in check, also a bit of shade, if its going mental its because theres excess nutrients in the system, once you main plants take off it should slow down
reptilez
very nice pond you have there ! Does your turtle ever hide from you when you try to remove him/her ?
Caryl
Looking good. Why not use black hose instead of that bright green? Perhaps you should bring your turtle to meet the one here and entice it out of my pond :happy2:
Mel
Mr Turtle is extremely friendly if i stand at the side of the pond he will come right up to the side to see me. at night time he goes back into his tank in the fishroom... wouldn't want him to get cold Looking good. Why not use black hose instead of that bright green? Perhaps you should bring your turtle to meet the one here and entice it out of my pond :happy2: :slfg: ok then i'll pack his bags and send him by snail mail .. he'll have way to much fun in your pond. Yea i thought about either the dark green or black hosing, but this is what i had on hand the other day.

F15hguy
try a heavy gauge nylon strung just under water level, not 100% perfect, but will catch the roots and hold back a large amount
