Plant ID please...

Grant says it is a young triffid and be careful to wear glasses when you are near it

I sent the pics to my dad (a gardener) and he has no idea what it is.

It is very pretty though isn't it? I gather the majority of the plant is underwater with just a few stems growing emersed?

Don't know what is underneath - Grant recons a large bulb and the ability to move and a stinging tongue thingy, then?

Perhaps I had better don some goggles and have a poke around in the bottom of the bucket - it is only 22l

Awesome Zev

Thats Cryptocoryne affinis. Its not one of the easiest flowers to grow, so well done

Mine is still small as it is a recent addition to my collection

Can I ask what media you are growing it in, and also water parameters and lighting.

Thanks

Ummm, you are not going to be impressed...

It is in Daltons Aquatic Mix, light is a 75w Philips Softone Warm Daylight (common old BC lamp in a clip on desk lamp)

Water is at 23deg, pH somewhere between 8 and 8.5 on a JBL test kit.
