VinsonMassif
I just got a response to a question for a fish tank in Timaru. Three oscars are in a 74L tank. The owner said they were just going to trim the tails as they grew rather than put them in a bigger tank! Some people need deleting from society imho. Cricketman
indeed, i know the feeling... like watching a pacu in a turtle tank at a pet store... whereby it had its belly on the ground and its dorsal fin clear of the water, and was being scratched by turtles trying to climb atop it... never will i forget that

If you look at the previous question and answer you will see that they were only in there when a bigger tank was been cleaned.
VinsonMassif
The previous question hadn't been answered when I asked mine. Good to know though.
Barrie
would it not be better simply to super glue a string from the tail to the head so that they swim in circles? Thant would solve the room problem?
Barrie
yes I was pulling your leg
oeminx
would it not be better simply to super glue a string from the tail to the head so that they swim in circles? Thant would solve the room problem? I was almost in tears I was laughing so hard. But it is still sick that someone would even consider cutting there tails
Barrie
just as sick as me in typing that
oeminx
But I know you would never actually consider doing it. Now if the TM comment of cutting there tails was just a joke then that is exactly the same as your comment here.
livingart
i think it is a wind up i took the key out of my back so no one could wind me up any more
SamH
i think it is a wind up I'm not sure. Some people hear or think they hear things and think it's okay. Because they have to reason to believe otherwise, they may, in contrary to common sense, do it.
tinytawnykitten
I have a friend who 'euthanises' fish she doesn't want by chucking them on the lawn.
twinkles
i just pop them in the angel tank
skippy_49nz
I let mine live out their lives and if that means I have them for another 10 years then i should have thought of that before getting them. Sadly there probably exists so much mistreatment of fish and other animals which aren't cute and furry so people let it slide.
alanmin4304
Chucking them on the back lawn is about the same as the fish you buy to eat only it gets thrown on the deck or in the hold of the boat.
Nymox
Thats true but I mean these are supposed to be people pets, not fishing to feed the whanau.
alanmin4304
I bet the fish are greatful for that.
tinytawnykitten
I should probably add that I definitely don't condone her 'chucking on the lawn' form of euthanasia. Especially when I have offered to take the fish off her hands and she just can't be bothered bagging them up. Sigh.
