ok so...

Rusty LOVES ripping up newspapers. I dont like him doing it, but he loves it and he is kept on pretty short leash for most things but im inclined to let him tear his paper if he likes it so much.

thing is, is it safe? all that ink - its no longer lead based is it?

he even rolls around in it.

Speaking of Budgies.... Does anyone have any babies that I could buy?

Back to the newspaper... I've used it for mice and guinea pigs, they chew it all up and lived in it and they did wonderful. Should be fine for your bird.

but what about the behavioural side of things? isnt shredding paper a sign of frustration or something? he has a stuffed toy he can vent his frustration on but NOooooooo.

do you like playing with the same thing day after day

variety is the spice of life

paper shredding in some birds can be a sign of nesting, boredom, likes the taste, likes the sound or feel of ripping paper, just for the sheer hell of it, etc etc etc

Maybe he has too many toys?

My Father was most annoyed when he bought our daughter a little dog toy when she was a toddler, he offered it to her to play with and she shied away from it - when he squeezed it and it made a noise, she instantly burst into tears. Consequently she spent the rest of the morning playing quite happily with the inside of a Mallowpuff packet - he was not amused!
