We regularly caught baby dogfish and baby hammer heads as well as some BW's sharks in the inner bay. I thought carpet sharks were more of an Australian thing. Are you planning on keeping some? livingart Posted March 25, 2008 Report Share Posted March 25, 2008 as i understand sharks dog fish are best, for the pelagic species you need a rounder tank with no caves to get stuck in, they are not good at reversing and need to be always moving forward to keep the gills working especially young ones used to transport them back in a 200 litre drum on its side, with top cut out bilge pump with flow directly over sharks snout or tape the hose in their mouth Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

northland chic Posted March 26, 2008 Report Share Posted March 26, 2008 A few years ago my partner caught a couple of prickly sharks and he also got a bramble shark (was going to post pics but my normal computer in the shop). I thnk we sent a prickly shark to Te Papa. A couple of weeks ago he got a spotty dog with spikes. Apart from that theres the normal spikey dog shark, carpet shark, school shark, great whites, makos, bronze whalers, blues and i'm sure heaps of others.
