ikekrull Posted February 29, 2008 Report Share Posted February 29, 2008 When i was younger living at my parents farm i could go to the stream across the road with my mate and net out large quantities of these fish - I had them in with some goldfish for a while, and he kept them in a tropical community tank - i think theres still a population in a trough on my parents farm along with some bronze goldfish. Of course we had no idea at that time they were noxious, or illegal to keep. They breed readily, and would make pretty good feeder fish, if they werent illegal to keep. They are not as good at eating mossies as their reputation suggests and have been introduced all over the world for that purpose but I think there are now some regrets. ryanjury Posted March 1, 2008 Report Share Posted March 1, 2008 Convicts would be ok very proliffic but IMO not suitable for a feeder unless the fish you are feeding too is a good hunter as they have a habbit of surviving whereas most fish can catch a baby or half grown guppy All depends what you want to feed them too..
