Slightly Blue Dalmation
oh and its just a new tank, running since tuesday
Southerrrngirrl
You could do that I suppose, but its an awful lot of work. I just waited it out.. took a few weeks but it cleared eventually. You'll probably be doing lots of water changes trying to get the cycle established anyway, right? tHEcONCH
Just wait - it isn't harmful (in fact some fish like it).
je_suis_ketan
You could try a carbon filter. Just a question from me though, do carbon filters remove oxygen from the water?

Dixon1990
Get bio-chem zorb. It removes tannins from water and last 3 months. A friend of mine used it and now the water is clear
henward
your driftwood is obviously a new one. tannin is still very much present crbon will clear it up straight away if its very brown, i had this problem, i had 3 pieceso f large wood in a tank, you get chem zorb at a pet shop, will guarantee to clear it cheap way though - water changes, r take out the wood, soak itin hot water and keep change hot or boiling water this will help alot but its good for the fish anyways. some breeders of exotic fish religiously ake their water brown with tannin, from a leaf in asia or wood , claims this helps PREVENT disease and make the fish calm i like the look of slightly brown water personally:D

purplecatfish
I've seen a friend's tank crash when they tried using chemicals to remove the tannins. Tannins also help keep the algae under control.
Slightly Blue Dalmation
sweet ive done a few changes and mostly cleared it up so il just leave it now
BK
Peat does the same thing, it won't harm fish most will like it. Remember that you have to keep the filter loaded, either with fish waste or uneaten food. Even though the noodle's I give you are already cycled you need to keep it going.
