    Tank Upgrade...

    This might help http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?s=11274b7c4259e4cc4bca2139f1bbad86&t=8952
  3. I have had my po4 and nitrate so low that i did notice that i had problems. My corals started to go pale like many zeo tanks. when i increased my nitrates they stated to go back the nice looking rich colours. Zeolite alone does seem to pull much out as this has happen to many tanks that have added too much zeolite. So i would say that you can go too low
  4. You can’t run Double need bulbs without cover glass as you will fry the corals. You will have to get toughen glass to shield the lamp. Single ended bulbs can be run without cover glass as the bulb has protection built in. Acrylic is no good as it will bend It is like going outside all day without sun screen. I would just run the floros for a few weeks .
  5. Zeo free tank shot Here is a pic of what it looks like. Its is almost a pink colour,.I have had it pure pink but hard to do with high fish load. one is turning pink again but cant get a good photo. Another factor is the light . If you use 10k bulbs then you have a good change of the monti going pink.
  6. Visted Wonderworld Rotorua last month and toke a few pics which i thought i would post. One of the best fish stores around. The marine section is coming along nicely and sould be fully up and running now. They supply a large range of marines and Top of the line drygoods. Would pay to visit sometime. They have abouy 20 marine tanks ,1 large coral sale tank and a show tank.

The macrodactyla doreensis are as hard as crispa to keep but they dont move as much. I actually lost that anemoe last week as he kept moving and got stung by my brain. bit pissed off as they are expensive and hard to get. I still have a green bubble that lives iwith the acros and got another purple type, not sure what type, Hollywood and Jansens got some real woppers. Magnifica over 12inch in size. love to get one in my tank if i had the space.

    Reefs Reef Tank

Thanks dudes. Tank is looking pretty good however the high fish load is making it hard to keep colours. should do more water changes as i only do them every 2-3 months. Corraline algae is going really well. could be the strontium i am adding. No really big changes made to the tank other than add another pump on the skimmer few weeks ago making 4 needle pumps on the skimmer.

  12. get a booster pump which will recirculate the water, or get another ro and add it to the waste.
  13. Sometimes they can . but in general i have seen them sting each other. They can however grow into each other.

    Tank Upgrade...

Pretty much what i will be doing for my new tank. i will keep my 4x 400w and the rest will be 250w. not much benefit from going 400w except the bigger power bill. I have actually reduce my metal halide lighting by two hours a day and already have far better growth and colour. With a tank that size i would go 20mm glass. you will sleep better at night.

    Tank Upgrade...

Thats a nice size tank. The depth will be awesome. Have you looked at getting the foam stuff they use at bubble king to hide pipes and make caves etc. Will you have all of it in the wall or only some of it??
  20. You could say the same for copper bands, Achilles tangs, powder browns, leopard wrasse, morish idols, etc. What happens to all the fish that come in. over 1000 fish a month come in and we have less than 200 hobbyist. Most fish die. even the basic coral beauties. Powder blues, Achilles tangs, powder brown don’t have any scales so they get white spot easy. Problem is that most powder blues might have been cyanided. I think if you have a well matured tank they should be ok. Water quality is the key to success.
  21. The fish do look healthy, but i would say they have been there for 2-3 days. they get big shipments everyday. Fish cant last long in those conditions.
  22. yes it is $22 for a yellow tang. pretty cheap. however they sell thousands of yellow tangs vs in nz we sell less than 100 a year.
  23. Looks like they use floros with the fish. Fish colours are the standard colours no better than what i have seen in NZ. The fish are real cheap and a real problem for the hobby as they would lose many fish and just replace them.
