  1. It could be a small short or something in your house. MH bulbs are very sensitive to spikes. Check your heater. Aaron

    Eheim filters

All of the overseas suppliers I have delt with state that the warrenties apply when used correctly for all sales including internationl. The problem is the return freight. They all have sections on this in there sites regarding warrnties for local and international sales. Read them first before you deal with them. Be carefull with voltages. Aaron
  3. It will open up sales to people that don't live in the cities, create more realistic prices as they realise they have more compatition nationwide and should create a better range of stock. The fact that they are online isn't going to stop the locals going to there local shops to have a look and purchace at the store, if anything it advertises what they currently have in stock for us to go and buy. The problem is that they need to set up decent websites that are regurly updated. This seems to be a big problem with allot of companies in this country not just the LFS's. They all need to catch up with the rest of the world before they get left behind forever. Aaron

    water flow

There has been allot of research done on this subject by people that aren't trying to sell products. They all seem to come to the conclusion that surging and as Steve said turbulance is the most affective form of flow on all types of coral. There are many electronic and mechanical devices that create this. It is also very easy to DIY a simple system. Aaron
  5. I'm not a beleaver in carbon, however I would love to see why and how it can damage an anemone. Aaron
  6. I third that. Thanks allot Dave and everyone else that went, that was brilliant. And also a big thanks to Layton for the frags. Aaron

    Hey all

Looks good so far. I take it that the bulb is an incandesent if so get rid of the bulb now even if you don't have a replacement. The algae will thrive under that thing Put a Flouro in 10k if it will fit a 2' tube. Aaron
  8. I agree with RnB if Pies is happy with it. The more we help each other the better. Aaron
  9. You should probably ask for sealled end caps, not waterproof. Aaron
  10. Anthony There was alot of info about cutting acrylic on the net. I havent looked recently though. The blade does have to be straight and the tip of the point itself can be sloped the wrong way. Make sure you do not make the acrylic hot. This is obvious if you can smell it. Laser cutting is so quick that it dos'nt give it a chance to heat up. Aaron

    Water changes

I always give my sandbed a stir but not all of it. You can see where you stirred last time, so you stir somewhere else. It's a great way to feed things and dosn't hurt anything. My water change was automated with a controller which could if need be, be activated by the press of a button. At the moment I just do a 10% manually straight from the tank after stirring some of the bottom. Even if the bed is deep you still need to do some vacuming but not anywhere near as often and not all of it, this helps to avoid any serious buildup. Aaron
  12. The Arcadia ones would need a goog socking to get water in them. I think you guys will find that your shops would rather sell you a complete unit, If one shop can get the caps with leads only then so can the others. Aaron.
  13. Last time I looked they were sold as a seperate item. I'm sick at the moment so give me a couple of days. Aaron
  14. I have never had problems with natural sea water. There may be something dumping in the sea nearby. Sawage, Woodmils, etc. Something that may not show on the test kits that we would use. Aaron
  15. Are you saying that none of your locals sell Arcadia. That amazing. My LHS's sell them if there is no one closer than me to where you are I could find out what they are worth + the freight for you. Aaron
  16. Pies It's not wrong I've been there and done it. I took them for my legal costs as well. Aaron
  17. Pomereef Have you read the manual I gave you. It has seasonal lighting, currents tides and moon cycle. Aaron
  18. Anyone who sells Arcadia, and you can buy them seperatly from the ballast Aaron
  19. In most cases the threat would be enough. Anyway the retailer would have to pay your costs. Brianemone wrote That is why things will never change. If people aren't prepared to get off there butts and do something about it then they have no write to complain. Aaron.
  20. chimera wrote It's not irrelevant, if people start holding dealers responsable for their actions the dealers will start to do there job properly which will intern save the live's of many creatures. Aaron
  21. Try to source one cheap in europe. Aaron
  22. If a dealer does not tell you what is requied to keep them and they die you do have comeback in small claims. If they give misinformation, you have comeback in small claims You would be supprised at what they can be held responsable for, most of them don't know themselve's. The basics of the Comsumer Garunties Act is online. Aaron
  23. I like a good mix in a tank no matter what they are, I think it has a nice look when there is a good mix. I had a carpet anemone along time ago in my 6 footer, I had to get rid of it, he just got to big. Aaron
