    Starfish

Ahhhh found it. Didn't get the name untill I googled tiny starfish. Looked up the name and the picture fits. Its a Asterina Starfish. I hear that these can sometimes munch on sps corals. Does that include mushrooms and zoas? Cheers

    Starfish

I have been offered some starfish for my nano but I can't remember the name of them. They look like a biscut starfish but are very small of only about 10mm. If anyone can tell me what these are called (I think it started with A :-? ) that would be great then I can google them. Cheers :bounce:
  3. yeah the tank of green is right lol mine almost looked fluro green! haha. Added another light the other week and things are taking off nicely. Molly is still alive so that has to be a good sign. I got an 18watt and a 13watt lights on there now which gives me just over 4watts per gallon (7g) so its got to be a little better than the 13watt and I have to say it looks a lot nicer to. Can't wait to see some pics of your setup evil. Keep up the good work. The dark side is so much fun hehe :bounce:
  4. Hey there I have noticed the same my spawnings to. I don't know if its something physicly wrong (swim bladder, their lung) or if its just them being lazy. I have also noticed that over time they don't come right and still just hang at the bottom. Hopefully there will be an answer for both of us at some stage Sorry I couldn't help any further but I can say your not alone.
  5. Well the gravel type sand that is in there was given to me. Apart from that was the golden coloured sand (didn't show up that well in the pic) that I got from the beach. I don't know exactly what the white stuff is but it came from a setup tank to help seed the base rock thats in there and get all the good bacteria growing faster. If I was to change it what would be a good grain size to go for, what type and where can I get it from. Cheers
  6. I was wondering which would be better. Sand or the white gravel type stuff that I had origionaly. I thought that the gravel would seem to chunky in the small sized tank considering everything in there is to be on the small side so I decided to give sand a go but hubby thinks it looks better the other way. Let me know what you think so I still have enough time to change back if need be hehe. Remember that the water is still a little merky from adding the sand. Cheers Sorry mod if these are to big. I have resized one of them but can't remember if the other one has been resized or not.
  7. I also am a supplier for Juwel aquariums. If you were to google these you will notice the filter box sits inside the tanks (unlike others that have them in the hood) this filter box includes the heater, powerhead and filter media. Lights are in the hood. With Juwel aquariums you can get the following brands Rekord Rio Vision Trigon I have sizes from 60ltrs up to 450ltrs. Cabinets also available at additional cost. Visit www.juwel-aquarium.com for more information about the individual tanks and designs.
  8. if you mean me the answer is no. They sold on trademe last week for the trio I had left. Sorry. I had to sell them quick as I needed to reduce my tanks before we start moving house.
  9. I would love to get a pair of killies and if everyone is sure that they can go with my guppies and swords (breeders) with out any issues then that would be awesome. I have more tanks sitting about empty but they are staying that way untill we move house. I am interested in the following if possible. Please email me prices if you have any spare. bitaeniatum gardneri albino gold gardneri striatum gardneri P82 Cheers
  10. yes I went straight there after doing this post. There seems to be a lot of variant in the same type of plant. Some are very green with light red specks while others are very red with a bit of green specks in them. Still an awesome plant that I would love a cutting from. Google is our friend hehe
  11. what does this plant look like? I wouldn't mind one for our 6ft when we move to our new house (have to find one first haha) as the 6ft tank is going to be my main display tank in the living room. Its an odd shaped one where its 2ft tall but only 1ft deep so its rather narrow but I think one of them plants would make an awesome centre plant Cheers
  12. Great to hear Evil. I don't know if I done a silly thing or not this morning but for the last two days I have been slowly adjusting a solid black lyretail molly fry from fresh water to full salt water. Added it to the tank this morning and so far so good. Swimming about and having a look see. Looks quite neat with it being soo small. Hoping to get my new camera soon. Tried out the Sony H5 and WOW its neat. The macro mode is awesome. I could zoom right in and actualy focus on my finger print as well as the tiny arse dimond in my engagementring hehe. Can't wait to see pics of your setup Evil. Keep it up :bounce:
  13. I have been told that killies will eat guppies. I ain't going to allow my breeders to become food for the killies lol. Think I will just wait thanks haha
  14. hmmmm well the only other tanks I have are guppies & swords, bettas & mollies, mollies & platys & bettas, fry tank, divided betta tank with two breeding males. Could they go in any of them? apart from that I have nothing available so I guess I will have to once again wait. Will wait till we move house (once we buy one) and set up more tanks Cheers for the info though. The angels are bigish and have breed for me once since I got them a month ago.
  15. Can killies go with angelfish? After losing all the eggs that were sent to me even with all the care and best conditions possible they all died off not long after hatching so I thought I would try a trio of adults and start there but the only tank that I have for them are with the angels. cheers
  16. lol soo true. I don't know if I have listed the pictures up in the other thread that has "Show us your Bettas". But you could check there and you will see the HM that I used to have. Swaped him and a couple of offspring for a trio of angels but got some lovely youngens from him which I am very happy about. One is quite red with a very wide black border around his fins. Very awesome and more of a round tail/ super delta than a HM.
  17. lol well mine are red but have blue shimmer to the body and a wee bit in the fins. Got light red to very dark red. :bounce:
  18. WOW that is awesome. I to have started my nano but its the next tank size down from yours. Looks like the same tank but they come in two different sizes. Totaly different rock work than what I have but I might get another piece or two later down the track Neat work. I to hope to add some corals to mine shortly
  19. HAHAHAH true true. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing something wrong.
  20. ahhhh ok. So I can expect it to get a little worse then it will start to come right on its own. I have noticed little orange/red fury worms as well as more of these anemone looking things. Have seen a little light purple cichion (sp) thingys with the domed over shell. Look like little moving mountians haha. Also seen little orange tenticles comming out of a tube on the side of a piece of rock. I got to see about getting my friends camera so I can try and take some macro pics of all this. With this all happening is it all a good thing? Cheers again
  21. Ok the rock is starting to get quite brown. Is this expected? Have I done something wrong? or is this when I look at adding a clean up crew? With a clean up crew where would I get them and what would I be looking for to put in the 7gallon tank? Don't have them available at the LFS down here (snails, hermit crabs) so what do I do in this situation? Cheers
  22. I to am interested in the stargrass but I would need it to be shipped so that would count me out I guess lol. Let me know when you are better and have more available Cheers
  23. Are they normal kribs or albino kribs? If they are albino I am interested in getting some if you feel like freeing up some space. Hope you get something sorted soon.
  24. Caryl all I can say is thats the same excuse anyone would get from the only LFS down here. Thats why I am setting up my own shop to try and help educate people about fish keeping as well as I can. I to don't worry about adding meds untill they show signs that really require it. If I see a fish that is looking a little off I give it a salt bath for 10-30 mins depending on the fish then put it back into the tank in which it came from. If no other fish look like they are unhealthy then I leave it till the next day and do another salt bath if necessary. Yes I know that its hard to digonse any problem without seeing it first but at the same time netting and transporting the fish can cause excess stress that is totaly unnecessary. Hope what ever it is either goes away or comes right on its own. Cheers
  25. Ohhh didn't think of looking there. I will check there when this stuff runs out Cheers
