  1. Go to your local Herd Improvement Society down there. GOLDSMITH!!!!!
  2. As far as I'm concerned, if a fish is wrongly named in an LFS and you can not definitely ID it it then just becomes a fish and should be treated as that. As other contributers have said, M interruptus are extremely rare, and what makes any one think that they are one of the fortunate few to have one, little own in NZ..
  3. If you aren't sure on how a product will affect the glass. Try it on a scrap piece first. Or the mirror in the bath room. - - - NOT Ajax and Jiff would be good - - - - YEAH RIGHT
  4. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Four times you were asked, Good choice of killies too.
  5. One good thing with that then Millet is that you can now remove THAT sig of yours. MOD
  6. Paul, come round to my place and pick up some guppies. Some of my young ones to act as sacrificies. No cost for these, just want to see you get this straightened out. Make sure that you have scrubbed down the tank with salt and water, so as the salt is still there, like a paste. Try them in the bare tank first. If they survive the bare tank for a couple of days, then try boiling the stones for twenty minutes and once cool, try them with the guppies. See if anything happens to the gups.

  8. Don't laff. And for those of you that think you know me, I'm not taking the piss. I have seen in the PFK magazine, where in England(where else would they do it?)someone had a similar problem and they made a little harness for it (fish) with a float attached. This apparently kept the fish in an upright position while the organs of the fish relocated themselves to their original position. I dunno. I said don't laff too!!!
  9. Yep, ideal, looks like the stones are big enough to act as recepters for the eggs too. Make sure that you boil-up all the gravel before use. Also sterilise the tank with a paste of salt and water. Goodluck
  10. I don't believe that he had any ammonia. Paul had nothing to start the cycle with and keep it going.
  11. Lady -Lene, forget the Chinese alge eater. They becme complte A/H in the tank then as they get older forget even what you bought them for. So the best place for them is in the LFS tanks. It is torpedo shaped brown with dark blotchings on it, and of course the sucker mouth. The SAE has a black line running the full length of its body thru to the end of the caudal fin (tail).
  12. set up a small tank and put some disposables into it.
  13. Remember Paul that it is useless putting a box-filter into a tank to get "seeded" that doesn't have any fish. Other than the tank not having been cycled, I can't see anything that you have done wrong. Watch out for the water system in town with the "fresh" in the river, the council will up the chlorine. Make sure that you have had it in some drums for a couple of days, preferable with an air-stone going.
  14. Hey Paul, you say you had it cycling for a week. Can you please explain how you did this??
  15. Water change variation Paul??
  16. Paul, don't tie that top-knot thing on top. It's a complete wast of spawning area. The piece that you tie the strands together while wrapped around the book, is the piece to work with. Tie it tightly around the strands, tie the ends of it together, Then cut directly opposite where you've tied them together. I use a small block of polystyrene for float.
  17. Compare the dorsal fins Paul. Blatantly obvious. Just have to know what to look for tho. The Notho is rounded and the australe is pointed to the backof the fin.
  18. Well just make sure that the camel's toes are clean too before you take them into the hall.
  19. Alan, did you see where he is from?? Anything could happen there!!
  20. What happens when you jet your water into a container and leave it for a day with an airstone. If the ammonia has been put in by your water company, then it will be as a gas and it should dissipate.
  21. Wot's a naught between mates
  22. Where there is two, there will be 102 or more.
  23. So as it is desert night I presume that you'll all be arriving on a camel and sucking on dates as you comb the sand from your hair??
