    hello

Hi there puddle, welcome along. How'd ya like to go back to your profile and in the location, put where you are from. I know that your from W/C Greymouth. But lots wont. Thanks
  3. When you flush the toilet or run a cold shower, if you have chlorine, you'll smell it. That is of course if you know what it smells like.
  4. How much are you changing? what % of the tank? and if you squirt it into your containers now, hard, most of the chlorine will disappear overnight. Temperature will be the most important consideration, IMO
  5. But according to other hobbiest, the tigers are not as palatable for the fish. The reason they are appreciated for their hard work is from the production of the side products that are reaped from them. "Give me a big fat garden worm any time." Well that's what my uarus said anyway.
  6. Hmmm guess you don't even have his addy LA?
  7. Were those the "tiger-worms" HaNs?? They (t/w's) have light markings on each of their segments.
  8. Sorry to hear all about those probs there Graeme. Tim and I were fortunate to have made Graeme acquaintance while visiting in Auckland recently and shared a coffee while watching his fish cruise in their tank. All the best for being able to control and fix the malady Graeme.
  9. Is of topic a bit, but as he has been in touch with you at that price why not go and see them in the flesh. You can then see the genders, health, size, coditions etc, for your self.
  10. Actually the "golden-food" for these and similar guys that size is green water, a decent handful of java moss here, helps provide the micro food needed.
  11. To prevent Velvet, we killiephiles have been known to keep a penny or hal'penny in out tank. The copper given off by the coin stops the velvet. So I'd suggest a med with copper in it. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS carefully tho Graeme, and the treatment will probably kill the snail population, so if you have lots, beware of the pollution problem formed by their demise.
  12. A female betta, ya can't go wrong. Make sure that you have floating plants and also plants that she can use as refuge. Why not drop over to the welcome page and say "HI" to the gang?? Welcome aboard.

    Ph Testers

Could be a bit expensive IMHO
  15. Was just going to but saw your sig.
  16. Tell you what, enquire nicely on this site and try to get NZ bred. They will not have the probs that a lot of LFS imports have. There are some good breeders of them on this site.
  17. That was for a self draining tank. T/Y MS
  18. f you are worried about hybrid relationships, then pray tell me. Why are you getting the deformed models called Ballon??? And no, the males are typically males, and will flirt with who ever wants to flirt with him.
  19. Base 5mm 300mm x300mm, 1 off Front and back 300mm x 300mm, 2 off Sides 300mm x 291mm, 2 off. Lid if required. Definately need a lid if you are thinking killiefish.
  20. All of those prices are less than 50% of what shops will charge you. You are very fortunate that we have a breeder who has dedicated a lot of his time to breed them and make them available at that price. That is the start price isn't it. Or do they have a buy now at that level?? I would agree with Wok, but get three tanks and breed the killies, and put the ones you have bred into the bigger tank when old enough. KBK
  21. I don't think that the female of the species should ever be allowed to utter that word.
  22. Lots and lots. Club registration is $15.00 Capitation to the FNZAS is $10.00. But, if you belong to another club that you have paid capitation through, then it will cost you the "princely" sum of only $15.00, to be in contact with killie keepers throughout NZ that have killiefish, that I doubt very much you'd be able to obtain else where in NZ LFS included. KBK

    pond questions

Save the digging!!!! For several reasons. One is when you wish to drain it, it is all hard yakker. When you want to service it, it is all bend over. I put several baths into the ground here so I know ewhere I'm coming from. The last bath I did, I built a cradle and used polystyrene for insulation and used corrugated iron for the outer skin. Looks ok, and if you want to move, you don't have to find fill to fill in those holes left by the in-ground baths.
