  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Zealan ... _angelfish interresting but no photo. bummer
  2. local angel fish whats a local angel we can get?
  3. any pic's of them in your tank? how did you get them?
  4. trade and exchange would be one i think is suitable because one seems to miss the one in fifty salty sale due to the sales being mainly fresh water. so separating frsh from salt more is not a bad idea, but would not merge any like DIY because of different "needs" in either salt or fresh water.
  5. but how many of those 2500 are still active members on this site? just look at the drop in postings in the last 6 month! most posts are done by just a few these days. don't thing its worth splitting up at present. its ok in other forums that have quite a few more posts per day but as ira says there is very limited activity on this saltwater forum at the moment.
  6. well your right, salt water its actually the light that leads to the abbyss and one step further. PM'ed you candy
  7. hey for us, fresh water is the dark site! salt water / reefers have seen the light! (normally the debt collector knocking on the door in the middle of the night wanting repayment for all those loans spend on our tanks  )
  8. you mean the light? but why is good to hear she is turning to the dark side? don't we want newbees here ?
  9. or how succesful they want to be in growing a reef and heaps of frags! can't wait til your corals grow out of the tank again puttputt!! still waiting for layton to show us some growth pictures or any pictures really of his great tank. well yeah still waiting (been over two years now at least  ) must be a real bummer puttputt throwing those corals out when you moved because they just grew everywhere and you just had way to many frags. well i put it down to you running this crappy thing, which is just useless and hard to work. what was it called again? oh yeah i have got one too - a calcium reactor. few thousand frags over the last couple years now and the damn thing is still working.
  10. i am sorry to say but buy a book for beginners (sorry i am not being rude) to get you started.
  11. i do. and mine are nitrate free as well. 8)
  12. The graph does not indicate at what depth! So it pretty useless if it is at one meter. I lived in Tonga, Cook Islands, Samoa and Maldives. The difference in temp in Tonga was 29 deg in summer and 22deg and less in winter at 12 meters. Almost all tropical places will have a drop in temp during the winter month unless you’re right at the equator. There day light hours or temp change very little
  13. well i will try that on the garage tank with leathers wich is covered in bryopsis most of the time. went to nothing after i added all those seahares but bounced back once they left the tank. so will keeep you informed what happens if the mag gets increased a lot.
  14. what is included in that figure? just the salt?
  15. have a look at this site www.seame.com they ship for free for orders over 75 euro ($150) within 3weeks and have great prices too. and you get stuff thats not or not yet available in NZ.
  16. don't fish and coral arrive in NSW from oversea's? or do they get packed in sterile med safe ASW before leaving places like indonesia? sorry i am just a newbee to this hobby hence my question
  17. that statement makes me laugh (sorry tom gunner) but 20 years ago it was almost impossible to get it growing and "you" were the "man" doing so. now you're the antichrist
  18. phospates are bit high but if you don't want heaps of colourful acro's then you would be fine adding another small fish.
  19. something you shouldn't advertise on the forum, never mind your preferences
  20. whats phospates and nitrates like?
  21. trust chimera on that on because he knows! don't you chimera!
  22. bad idea to put a reef tank in the hallway. you want to see it all the time and thats not really possible in the hallway. also a hallway has to much traffic that will scare the fish, ie. causing whitespot due to stress. try to find a quiet place where you can enjoy the tank (and not just as a piece of furniture in the hallway) it should be more then that, otherwise why bother?
  23. i would say it has nothing to do with your syphoning! but more to do with the red stuff in your tank. i just dropped a feeder starfish into my reef for my harlekin shrimps and it landed onto my heliofungia. i pushed it away from the coral and lots of tips got stuck to it. a day later and its all healed with no sign of damage at all.
  24. i love my power bill during summer, just shows how much those heaters really suck the power.
  25. this way they wont come on when the temp drops a bit during the night. but its real genocide once you plug them back in april/may. you must live past the bombay's whats a cold spell? 20 deg? 8)
