  1. thats what i did! will help to keep Mg at around 1200, Ca at 370 (can't get it any higher) which is fine and Kh at 7 (never higher, also fine esp. with zeovit) if you have to add that much just to keep up then something is very wrong. (or you have way to many stone corals growing at huge rates ) seems to me that you adding a "painkiller" instead of finding out where the problem is. otherwise all of us would have to add the same quantities as you do. but we are not! also be careful with raising it to quickly with zeovit (or zeovit gets the blame again) also Kalkwasser should not be used with zeovit as you want to remove phospates and not percipitate them. are you corals growing well?
  2. black mollies look much better in saltwater too. stronger colours. but one could keep them in fresh or brackish a lot cheaper and as there are so many great looking marine fish why would you?
  3. but then you could end up buying corals at your LFS that have been partly eaten if it turns out to be a nasty.
  4. i have done tests with quite a few types of nudibranchs while living in various parts of the tropics and had more problems trying to keep them alive! never had problems with them eating my corals, i had more headaches with nudibranchs going into the pumps and being minced up (300 ltr powerhead) and releasing all sorts of poisson into the water killing almost everything in the tank, but those were always to very colourful, fleshy looking ones.
  5. would blend in well with white xenia! :-? but i guess its a "harmless" slug (aeolidinia) looking at the 4 feelers that feeds on hydroids. i would leave and see . pretty looking if ya don't want it i'll have it. :bounce:
  6. i have a small green one living in my overflow (lots of rocks in there) and see him once in a while. don't know what he eats as small snails are alive as well as some little native glass shrimps that managed to escape from my royal gramma.
  7. any updates on where and what time?
  8. is that the same son who didn't like marines a couple years back (cichlids only please) and if marine then only ever fish and never corals. or do you have two sons?
  9. correct. had something to do with endangered species, for some reason butterfly and angels weren't allowed for quite a while. otherwise you can bring in anything you want yourself from your holiday trip abroad without having to declare it at all, as nobody cares. :bounce:
  10. very true. also stuff thats not available in germany (that was banned at some stage like angels and butterflyfish ) just go to switzerland and bring it accross the border. have done that many times as customs never ask and even if you show them they'll let you pass. even in the early stages in the hobby almost everything was available at a price in central europe.
  11. bummer and there was me believing Germany was in Europe, i never stop learning.

thats because your stupid! hmmm then again i don't get it either. :-?
  13. don't give up on it! i have a scolymia (green) that my regal angel really liked. he ate the whole mouth piece out of the poor coral and then started on the fleshy lobes!! i thought oh well will die so i left it for a while but it didn't. i then moved the coral out to the garage into my 40 liter tank. the tank has no heater or skimmer just a small powerhead, some natural sunlight and 3 hours max a day of 150watt 14000k arcadia. it regenerated its mouth piece within 4 weeks and now all the damaged lobes that had some algae on it have healed. the whole coral looks just like new. and now i have the problem what to do with it. place it back in the reef and hope my angel ignores it, keep it in the garage or sell. bummer. :-?
  14. agree, would have to be at least 2 different crawls to keep the peace. (not to mention if layton should make it )
  15. i guessed you would be a McD's kind a guy.
  16. on another note, heard on the radio yesterday that the yanks recommend to eat fish at least 4 times a week to stay healthy (heart wise). makes you wonder where they think all that fish is suppose to come from? our already badly stripped oceans? :-?
  17. go and spend your money at another LFS (if possible) and pop back in a year to say hi!
  18. if used for fresh water straight away without adding electrolytes and PH adjusters that could well be the case. one of the DI units hollywood used to sell even came with two little bottles to make the water "liveable" again. it strongly advised not to use the water without re-adjusting the water parameter.
  19. how sure are you?, clams can die slowly (deteriorate). otherwise the clam would shut its shells very quickly to prevent the shrimps nipping on it.
  20. wonder if the trigger will have a go at the urchin.
  21. warick buy a RO/DI unit it will be a lot cheaper in the long run. also looking at your useage you would have paid it off by now!
