  1. why do want a wet and dry filter? you could spend the money on a better skimmer instead.
  2. i run a 150 watter over my 42 liter tank in the garage. i am sure you have seen it when you came over?. its only on for 4 hours max which is more then enough. don't have to much of a heat problem out there. it might be different inside a house. you could also just raise the 150 a bit more.
  3. when did you buy him? i got a foxface 10 days ago, it ate algae for a little bit and had great colour (not neccessarly a good thing in a new fish). it retreaded more and more, was lying on its side more often in the last couple of days and died today after i went to work. so i assume cyanide poisoning as his colour looked good for most of the time. i would rule a disease out as this is the first new fish in over a year, none of my other fish have ever been sick and the foxface was only for a very short time at the LFS. and there wasn't really enough time to develop an illness. really pisses me of because i choose the best coloured out of three. without blaming anyone i would be interested how the other two went that were at hollywood at the shore. if you bought them how are they going?
  4. don't mention the B-Balance to Brendon (you might upset him )

if it comes from czechoslovakia it must be quite old as that country doesn't exist anymore for quite a while now.
  8. reply was a thanks would / may have been the right answer to his offer, but seems that you can't please everyone!!
  9. question! - with my durso the water level was always at the same constant hight. this is not the case with my cracker pipe. it flactuates by about 5cm which is no reall a worry (even without a seperate emergency overflow) but it is never the less interesting. so why is it doing it? my pump not pmping at the same rate?
  10. i covered both my valves with old plastic filter cartridges from same cheap chinese powerheads i got a while ago. they work great. i did that with my durso too, that is after a snail blocked my durso and caused an overflow of about 60 -80 liters in a few minutes (yes minutes not hours).
  11. will cost you a tenner for copy right reasons , just kidding pop over to have look.
  12. exellent. sofar no re-adjusting needed. and i can hear the tv from the computer room. hope i can sleep tonight without all the noise. i didn't use a safety back-up pipe at all. i figuered that i didn't have one with my durso so why bother now.
  13. well, went yesterday to crackers place to have a look at his set-up. mainly his overflow because i had seen pic's of his tank before. and i was intrigued to see a full siphon in action. i had followed the thread about quiet overflows and all the arguments that followed which resulted in a locked thread. i had a "quiet" durso in my oppinion until i went to crackers place. you could hear a needle fall on the ground. (and this is no B.S.). so i went straight to carters and got some plumbing. installed it this morning took me all in all 11/2 hours. the results are absolutly awesome (now i can hear my pump in the basement :-? ). i also was able to increase my flow rate from the return to maximum something i wasn't able to do, because my single durso just couldn't handle anymore flow without increasing the noise level as well. i had 3100 liter per hour before now i am well over 4000liters with no noise at all. i didn't want to join the last thread about overflows and post pro and con's on durso and full siphon systems, because i never tried a full siphon, but the results are incrediable to say the least. full thumbs up to cracker and layton. best $50 i've spend in a long time. :bounce:
  14. check your water parameters for phospate and nitrate. i have been looking after somebodys torches ( 3 colonies) for a few weeks now. his water was not the best. my own torches a very big but his ones still struggle, i guess it take quite a while for them to get better. 2 of them still show no growth yet (and honestly i don't give them much hope), the other is going ok and expands more while mine keep growing (they are all in the same tank). so it would seem that lots of damage was done to them before they ended up in my place, in this case bad water.
  15. what a coincidence. i was thinking the same thing a couple hours ago. one could place the ballasts outside the unit (would end up with a few more wire going up to the ceiling. this way heat would not be an issue. shouldn't be to expensive either to do.
  16. maybe you should dicuss these question on Zeovit.com as a lot more people on that forum use it (not all of them, quite a few that are just there for the info). i reckon you would get a lot more questions answered there then here where most have never used it or don't know what it is all about.
  17. no your not. if you were you would use them and make up your own mind if the products are good or not. your asking questions with the intention to wind up some people (which seems to work). what positive have you come accross with any of the zeovit products in your (re  ) search? i am always willing to try a new product myself before i make a judgement (testing a new one at the moment)
  18. believe or not, but even you can get the tank down and back up all by yourself!! i watch greg (and yes he is small and skinny) move tanks bigger then yours on his own. the two of us moved ym tank (2200*710*650 in 12mm glass) from his work shop into the van and back into my garage. all you would have to do is slide it along one side, lower it (best onto something strong and soft, place the poly on the stand and place the tank back on it. in such a way that your tank is still leaning on the stand with one side if you know what i mean. sounds hard? it isn't just don't try to lift the whole damn thing into the airto get it off.
  19. glass in it self is cheap. why bother with some old, scratched? in need to clean before using to make a tank? since renovating the house i figured it is much easier, faster and cheaper to do it with new material.
  20. sorry didn't see a japanese long sword anywhere either. or larry ellis's super yacht (but i would guess that duke's garage is a bit small for it (or his house) )
  21. no i didn't spot anything. my "oh my god" was directed towards AW. i haven't heard much from him lately!
  22. sh..t yeah i was very concerned the first few times dosing it. and yes i would like to know whats in it! i took the piss before in a reef club meeting and said it is glas cleaner and wouldn't be suprised if it is something very close to it. but hey it works. and no i don't think it dye's the corals as not all respond the same way.
