  1. I think from that photo it was Jim causing the reaction.
  2. I think that advert was appalling Alanmin, we're all fat because we don't eat properly - always pushing to get that little bit extra work done. I don't know what was up with wok Paul but I think he was having fun! right up until he realised it was Jim R and not Jo behind him!
  3. LOL, That's just cruel Sarah, you could have given me some warning to suck the gut in!
  4. Well done on keeping them alive and spawning them. I hope you have another go at spawning them as I don't think they are on the list any more ...... Betta coccina Betta imbellis Betta pugnax Betta splendens

    sexing young

there are 2 members close to you that breed them.
  7. Aplocheilus lineatus Golden wonder form is often imported, the wild/striped strain is less often imported. Aplocheilus dayi and Aplocheilus panchax panchax are also allowed to be imported, they come in less often, haven't seen them in a few years.
  8. It sounds like you are well prepared. I would only add a few things... Is the water in the spare tank from the spawning tank?, if not mix the waters so they are very similar. Feed the micro worms and a little of the liquid in the culture from the beginning of the free swim stage. The fry will grow MUCH faster on bbs or Decap b/s, if you have some start to feed just the smallest pinch/drop twice daily from the third day after F/Swimming, continue feeding micro worms as well. Siphon any uneaten food daily with small water change or put a baby bristle nose in the tank after 1 week(still do little water changes daily/every second day). Good luck
  9. Apparently some wholesalers have their Mollies in salt water as they do better in it. So when a shop buys it as a fresh water fish and chucks it in a fresh water tank and some unsuspecting customer buys it and does the same the poor fish is stressing out big time.
  10. wok How dare you swear like that!! As a BAKER I find that insulting!! Baking is Baking!! Consider yourself told off
  11. I'm not getting many eggs at present. I have 5 that I will send to the auction. I have 1 fry a week old and a few more eggs coming on. I found I didn't have prob's with small fry with larger fry. They were in a 600x150x150mm tank with a small sponge filter and a medium clump of spawning moss in the middle. I found the small fry stayed away from the larger fry for 2 weeks except when bbs was feed. Then after 2 weeks it was out and about. I think the shallow water helped the fry.
  12. Yes I saw some today in the Hutt evey71.
  13. If you only have neon's and emperor tetra's, it is more likely they will be Emperor as the conditions to have fry hatch are less challenging ( Neon's eggs and nymphs are very light sensitive where as Emperor's are not so sensitive).
  14. Are these gold Australe eggs? I started collecting eggs from both australe and am surprised how many I am collecting and how many are good
  15. Bugger If I know, Ask her   , things like that happen.
  16. My comment had nothing to do with that, it was about future spawns and where they would place their eggs - only, You read something into my comment that was not there.
  17. Strange, I wrote a post regarding wild and aquarium breed Dwarfs and it's not here???, I wonder where I put it  Cam Is there a place the 2 pairs can breed out of site of each other? I wonder if thats where they would breed every time, me thinks so.
  18. Yes, yes. Much better, you will get the effect but not the risk. Good luck, let us know what you find.
  19. Cam it's a great idea. However.. Just to let you see the code the other replies use:- They are being extremely polite!!! A 60lt tank is at least 30lt to small to try this experiment in. You may loose a valuable fish from your successful pair, DO YOU REALLY WANT TO RISK THAT! I know your young and wanting to try different things and that's great, really great - I do mean that. But there are some rules that need to be meet when breeding different species, as long as new ideas still meet the rules they should work. Pairs of South American Dwarf Cichlids DEMAND a minimum territory form other Pairs of South American Dwarf Cichlids, 30mmsq is fool hardy! Even keeping a trio (1m & 2 females) in a 90lt tank is hard with out removing line of sight from 1 female to the other, and if both should breed at the same time the male may have no where to go. But I could be wrong and I'm very happy for you to prove that. As it would be valuable new information to add to the knowledge if it works. I wish you no bad luck! Stu
  20. You are trying to create a double copy of the albino mutation on the X Cromo's. Breed. then (assuming the females have 2 normal X Cromo's) Breed father to sister for 50% Albinos or Brother to sister for 25% Albinos Fry should be large enough to breed 3 months after hatching.
  21. Yeah I breed them years ago, I just treated them like normal glowlights.
  22. They do work, however as there is phosphate in our water when ever a water change is made phosphates are added. :-?
  23. There are phosphate removers. Some are Iron based others are Aluminum Based I don't however know their trade names, check with the Marine guy's and girl's.
