I have filled it up with water first, would have been there all day trying to suck the water through otherwise I'll leave it running for a couple of hours and see if it builds up the water pressure. Anothr update later(from my prison cell where the police put me after throwing said filter off the highest building in wellington....

done that, all thats going through the filter is a very small amount of water, think dripping tap amount..... there is no water pressure, at all....

After getting the broken bit replaced at animates, I'm now literally blue in the face trying to get this damn thing primed, anyone have useful hints / tips or a large hammer to help me out?

its eating as much as the rest and swimming about happily, just did a 20pct water change and ran a few water tests to make sure nothing was out of whack, nitrate(50mg/L) and nitrite(0.8mg/L) were higher than last check, I think thats down to the tank cycling. Ammonia is almost zero. Will keep an eye on it and see if its acting odd, I can't see any scales sticking out, but my eyesight isn't fantastic, the fish wouldn't sit still long enough either

One of my Neon tetras seems to be a bit fat There is a sizeable bump on the neons underside inbetween the 2 set of fins which isn't present in the other 5. Its not an odd colour compared to the rest of the fish. Any ideas?

I finally got 6 neon tetras and a bristlenose to cycle my tank(61x30x46cm, 80L). I've been watching the neons, and 2 of them seem to be acting a bit odd, they are chasing the other neon tetras away from one end of the tank, but tolerating each other there. Since I'm no expert in identifying the sexes of them, what is the chances its a mated pair? Could they have laid eggs? Only other thing I can think of is thats the end nearest the TV and they like to have a good view.....

Are clown loachs hardy enough to cycle a tank or should I stick to the corys first then add loaches? Cheers

80 litires(61x30x45cm), but I'll have the option of moving them over to a 420l tank(130x50x65cm) oncer it arrives in a couple of weeks ish....

Got some plants from Dark, and a few stowaways have appeared while I'm cycling the tanks. Which fish eat snails? I'll be adding corys next week and then the snail eaters next

After 2 hrs walking along Lyall Bay / Hougton Bay, I managed to find a small handful of bits of driftwood to use, whats the best way to soak a large bit of driftwood(near 3 and a half foot long) when you don't have a bath?

well, I reckon i now have around 75kg of the stuff, 3 bags from animates and the 4 buckets from mystic, the animates stuff is filthy, using a sieve on the animates stuff and will see how I get on with the rest I know what I'll be doing all this weekend....

Thanks to Mystic, I am now the proud owner of 4 buckets of gravel, what is the best way to clean large amounts of the stuff without going a bit bonkers?? Cheers
