tank is filtered by 2 sumps (1 tower and 1 secondary bio only) 2x fx5 1x fluval 404. has a tunze power head for the root systems. lights 5x t8 power glo tanning lights not installed yet - i will wait for it to get bigger before tanning. oh yeah my friend who has a slr camera is coming over this weekend and ill post some oft hose sorry, cannon digital camera is not made for fish! gets blurry and flash turns fish into a weird colour
-
:slfg: first one isnt so clear second one has more of the fish' colours in it. the cheeks are turning orange already, scales from gills towards tail, wheni picked it up from king (007) - it had 3 to 4 scales with rims turning orange, thats getting bigger and a few more have developed. thats why i dont wanan stunt it!! going for 1 inch a month of growth

well oficially, i have given up on pellets lol too weak and wanna see it eat!! Its fasting has finished oficially 2 mins before this video was taken. still int he mouth is a prawn. i have stuffed with massivore and hikari pellets anyways, to ensure it gets everything good from everywhere. also will be stuffing it with silkworm pupa as well. main diet is prawn stuffed with silk worm pupa massivore jumbo carnistick freeze dried krill and live locusts. i am gonna pump this beast up!! sorry ally, could not resist and reflecting on what others abroad feed - pellets seems to be the minority, so if they can get good massive fish, i can too:D (cough cough i am weak cough) *video to follow

im just lazy to be honest, photos fro my camera turns out cruddy. ill take a vid today. reconsidering pellet training lol just want it to eat and start growing:D
-
it is, albany is selling them for that, its cheaper than cichlid gold! well not quite but almost
-
mealworms are the same. live food grows aros big, i know that, i have seen it first hand. i find a variety of food but yes, perhaps pellet training is over rated. my rtg became a monster wtih not pellet training, prawn, prawn stuffed with pellets and locusts and mealworms. as for pellets not being good, most if not all overseas experiences say pellets ia good supplement and gives a balanced growth, but alot of people dont do it in asia as it is expensive to feed pellets. yet they still have massive fishes. i am considering not pellet training and just stuffing prawns like i did before. too bad i just got a 1kg bag of hikari sticks was on sale hff albany for 75 bux lol half price. but on the upside, i just got a fire eel that eats hikari sticks:D i am also curious as to why pellets are not good for arowana especially red.

in order of probablity of success black, silver, green then jardinii. jar is agro, its a lucky dip. i would say jar may kill your pink tails. i say black and silver is the best candidates. i hear green ca be a bit agro - and still wild in nature.

ally07: how long did your green take to eat pellets?
-
yeah, everyone keeps telling me to be strong lol im scared it will stunt, some say it wont, im just paranoid. but yeah, im gonna keep trying to feel pellets! easier in the long run
-
lol well, to be honest, the black aro and jardinii ate pellets at quarantine. this guy was fed shrimp the entire time so its hard to break them. every forum online says that its a matter of patience and the aro will not starve itself. at times it goes for it violently, but at times it ignores the pellets. i have seen it a few but not ever since. i did break and give it freeze dried krill which it loves thursday last week but since then, only pellets are offered to it. spotted metynis x3, flagtail, and the bichirs and clowns are all coming up to feed fromt he surface now, so hope this helps it eat the pellets with competition. im determined to feed it pellets, easier and they get bulkier on it
-
any tips on pellet training aros please give them to me
-
I am training it to eat pellets at this stage. it happily eats shrimp, though for some reason it doesnt like shrimp with shell. weird. and freeze dried shrimp. so after giving it some food. im in the process of training it to eat pellets. its almost there, eaten a few pieces fea days back, and bites them and starting to chew, but still a bit to go. its a battle of will, fish or my will to break. i find pellets makes the fish nicer and bigger. and easier to feed too when on holiday.
-
Will do just getting it to eat more and regularly. then i will post a video. my friend is coming to take a nice photo for me also and ill post that:0 yes happy with the colour and quality, very n ice fish indeed!

the pump running your sump dry means its got good turnover, via aqua will lose flow rate a tiny bit, maybe 10% after a month of running, so it is perfect. what you should do when your tank is filled - fill it slowly ove 3 to 4 days i reckon, give the poly, wood and the stand to adjust to the weight. just my m ethod and opinion anyways... someone can correct me if its neccesary. anyways, then all you have to do is put the hose in the sump while the pump is running and then keep filling it until the sump is just filled wiht the constant flow from the main tank just above the pump. so when you turn the pump off, the sump will surely flood, and it wont over flow, though if it does its not the end of the world, but yeah, gets messy:D the holes in the spray bar looks good and big! awesome! wont clog that way.
-
so whats going in this monster anyways? this tank looks like it needs goodness in it!
-
As in response to your PM fishie, i believe having the canisters normally in the tank may look slightly unsightly but will provide better clarity for water anyways, and in turn will be more effective. i suggested, eventually selling the smaller canisters and upgrading. but nothing wrong with multiple canisters, poewr on them is not much. also, as i said as well, if you keep the system simple, it works and does not have much that can go wrong. if its complex, more can go wrong my 2 dollars :happy2:

yeah, wanted to find the river of the sun in blu ray:D
-
Who has done this with success? its for the 1200Litre tank. TT eel is significantly bigger so dominance issues will quckly subside im sure lots hiding places, line of sight breakers.
-
wonder what sort of heater you would use for 5k or 6k tank
-
haha actually that would be awesome! imagine the bio load you can put on to a 1200Litre sump!! that would be hardcore! i reckon your tank can be 5000 to 6000 litres with a 900 to 1200litre sump:D

the tower with the noodles and bio balls is not really gonna be submerged. but yes you could do that. bio balls are good for wet dry... but i found them to be equally as effective, i have bioballs, noodles and assortments of efi substrat etc in my second wet dry sump too. anyways, as for your plubming, good work - looks tidy and effective, however, one feedback i have. the spraybar - in concept its good, you have the principle right of dispersing the flow of water and spraying it to lessen the force on one spot. but the holes you have are extremely tiny - you WILL find that in time, they WILL clog. and you may have a flooding issue:D 50% or double the size hole syou have, or just alternate, every other hole make it bigger, this will give larger particles to flow out of. in saying that, fish poo will disintigrate after a while, but you dont wanna risk blocking them nd having a flood. just my humble opinion:D almost ready to fill though!
