  1. Delhezi and Senegalus i have 2 senegalus, one albino senegalus one no rmal.
  2. yeah, if i get more that are not sawn off ill change them lol but yeah, i love the root systems. really gives plecos and the loaches a place to hide
  3. alright dust has settled, clown has settled in slightly - eating already cos the water in the tank they came from and this tank is same system, so very little stress apart from netting lol melafix in the water, some salt - here we go. i am feeding my home made clown loach beefer! everyone seems to like them though.
  4. lol yeah got the last arcadia from HFF roskill. i am told after 3 to 4 months of the original tanning light from arcadia which is a reddish tinge, a make up really for fish which id otn like someone recommended to me as 12% uvb D3 arcadia reptile bulb as a replacement works better as it has more than double the uvb. ill get that eventually but yes, the tanning lights is designed for underwater positioning. its actually quite discreet - doesnt look TOOOO bad lol
  5. very fine rocks been grouded to a fine sandy texture.
  6. eyah the sand does look nice, glad i bought it returned t50 kgs, abit too much pet stuff is awesome service, took it back no issues! tank small? really? yeagh i want bigger but cant right now lol yeah, the swn off tops are annoying, but its ok. i have one tall one that goes outof water, the rest are sawn off - still looks tree ish i guess:D im moving fish today, will send another vid when done
  7. haha most of those mid swimming fish if not all is going to not be there anymore. only bottom dwellers will be there. the only fish that will remain is the albino tinfoil barb and flagtail - maybe 2 geophagus. whtas chaotic about it?
  8. decided on very dark substrate, fine dark substrate. this is SATIN BLACK substrate from pet stuff, is extremely awesome! fine like silica sand, so dirt wont easily move down the substrate. 3x manuka roots on the left side for loaches and bottom dwellers to seek shelter in. caves in the middle and log at the end for eel. but generally open space at the centre and towards right for feeeding time. Reedhook, 6 bar, pacus are all gonna go. RTG is also sold. so mids will be minimal with a massive focus on the VIP and bottom dwellers. gonna wait for natural sand movements tos ee where the weak spots are of the substrate and reinforce them with stones and pebbles to keep erosion consistent and whole ground covered Here is the vid:
  9. i bought satin sand from petstuff looks amazing! sandy substrate, very fine and very very black and dark. obviously not as pitch black as iron sand but this is dark enough. very dark. look sgreat! i have set up my VIP tank, i will post pics soon
  10. the satin stuff is natural not the shiny stuff you get thats synthetic but just wondering \what type of rock is this is this the same charcoal grit from stone and water world just finely ground? i am going to need alot of these
  11. why is satin black not good for fish wtih barbels?
  12. any9one here tried the stuff from swanson industrial sands? i believe it may have adverse effects in my water. i dont wanna risk it satin black if black enough will be ok for me does anyone know where to source these in larger bulk? I will need a large amount.
  13. apparently the satin black is same stuff but fine like silica sand, when wet, it becomes black as the properties change i am going to morrow to check it out to see how black ti is. if its darke nough iw ould gowith it, id ont wanna risk the ferric oxide stuff
  14. yeah i guess im keeping arowana, clown loaches maybe not worth the risk! i will call swanson sands, ask if they have any black sands that is stable and inert. but if not, i will have to settle for the midnight or satin black !! i bought a sample to see how fine reason is that i dont wanna gravel siphon to clean and silica fine sand tends to not let dirty down the bottom of substrate
  15. it could also absorbe trace and minerals that is good for fish in that regard i guess
  16. AquariumsFerric oxide in a granular form (GFO, granular-ferric-oxide) is readily available for purchase in the saltwater aquarium and reef community. Its primary function as a filtration media is to pull phosphates out of the water column to aid in the control of nuisance algae. Branded products such as PhosBan, ROWAphos, and PhosLock contain proprietary blends of granular-ferric-oxide and granular-ferric-oxide-hydroxide (GFH).[6] got this from wiki as before. what does it mean in freshwater? it says that ferric oxide is used in salt water what but i cant find what effects it has in fresh water. will it alter ph, make it basic? acid reacts to it thus making it basic? dont know. im not really a chemist:) that why im asking for help. it will help with blackbeard algae in the freshwater tank lol thats good but what else? will it poison wateR?
  17. http://www.industrialsands.co.nz/iron_sand.html this here who uses this? BUMPY BUMP!!! i wanna know if i can use it :bounce: http://www.industrialsands.co.nz/iron_sand.html or this
  18. swanson industrial sands sell black silica does anyone know, does this affect water params? i know silica doesnt, but black silica? any experiences? or facts at hand? i heard it may leech something i am looking at buying this but dont wanna risk fish life of course.
  19. its not cruel if you dont tell anyone about it :sml1: everyone here will have different opinions. i think that feeding lions, tigers and predators int he zoo meat is cruel i reckon they should put a goat or sheep in there after hours to get their stimulated. but you cant mice, baby mice is extremely good for fish and reptiles. full of vits, calcium, especially ust after a feed from their monther and full of milk - they are extremely full of goodness!
  20. pork is expensive, you are better off feeding chicken breast or beef or shrimp pork is not as cheap! shrimp is idea for aroawnas, alternating shrimp and beef, is good, beef just beefs themup! i find anyting i feed beef to grows liek crazy or better yet, stuff shrimp with shell with massivore! massivore rules, i swear by it wheni have a child one day, i will feed it massivore and make my child the first asian/south african cross all black.... 8) :nilly:
  21. I was listening and reading an article from the aqurama arowana champion and he said that he uses VMAXX and stands by it. use is just injecting a tiny amount into a shrimp, 2 to 3 times a week as well as a balanced diet of pellets and prawns, insects etc. i figure, investing in such a fsih, may as well go that extra mile to ensure colour and health is optimal. just wondering if its avail here. i think its a lil different to the bird stuff perhaps? like bio availabilitya nd delivery? i am unsure. any scientists??
  22. http://www.aquaristikshop.com/e_Produktinformationen/Dennerle-V-MAXX-Vitamine-Drops.htm do we get this here? it costs $52 to ship here and 22 per bottle. though i heard a bottle lasts a long long time. thats 72 for a 25ml bottle. you put a tiny drop on food per feed. .... wish more people would be keen on this so it gets cheaper as i buy more! ........... anyways, can we get this here?
  23. http://www.aquaristikshop.com/e_Produktinformationen/Dennerle-V-MAXX-Vitamine-Drops.htm where can i get this? is this allowed in the country?
