    wall and ceiling supplies( not sure of address, is in yellow pages under ceilings) have black 20cm*15cm for around $1.20 per piece. Mulford also have white stuff by the sheet(also in phone book)
  2. use to be 20% weekly, last 3 months 20% monthly, still no incr in nitrates
  3. I moved some fresh water fish 16 hours in a bucket with a battery operated bubbler in there, lost none of them.
  4. are you getting this through radium lighting, just talked to the guy he has a good variety of different MH bulbs, fittings, ballasts

I have read articles that state 150 watt for 45cm or less 250 watt for 45cm to 60 cm 400 watt for more than 60cm Now are these recomendations for tanks that keep stoney corals and other things that need a lot of light or for all types of marine tanks.

    both my brother and I have the cl280. We both run a 500l pump with no probs. Mine is very quiet and his was very noisy(in the same house at the time so we could compare), he took his back and it was replaced as it was faulty
  10. I have a 4 ft tank with fluros, I have had an anemone for 3 years with no probs, in fact it split and I had to take one back. I do have 5 tubes though

    do you need /have glass covers for your lights pies. what sort of reflector did you use
  12. thanks for the replies guys. The tank is 2.04L*700w*600H It is being built into a wall(or rather a wall is being built around it in the lounge). I think I migh head down the steel path, I have a mate who works for a welding firm who should be able to make me a deal
  13. Hey, which do you think would the best material for a new stand. I know some of you have used steel and others wood. A lot of guys in the states use wood but I have been warned of it by some people so am leaning towards a steel stand. What are your ideas

    my brother is using the mm system, seems to be going very well and his tank looks great
  15. I have moved house 2 times in the last 6 months, you get better each time you do it but yeah moving stinks
  16. $60-70 depends on glass thickness One of the guys who works at hollywoods had a stream in his tank on the normal holders and it came off and wrecked havoc in his tank, think he took the stream out after that
  17. pies do you have the magnets to hold the streams, much better than the ones the come with, I switched mine over and am much happier with it

    base is mdf(i think)has 2 doors its black made by a guy who makes tanks for a living. I can send you a photo if you want just give me your email details.

    my brother has just put in a new tank, his old one was less than a year old. It is approx 800*800*650 or something like that. pm me if you want the exact specs and a price etc. Tank comes with base lid and tank, no sump though
  21. I called peter at port nicholson glass today, he gave me a very competive price for what i want. I am pretty sure I will be using him for my base, thanks pies
  22. mine cruises in and out of the rocks all day, its definately at the front when it comes to feeding, eats anything

    I tries bringing in rotifers around a year ago but maf wont allow it. I know there are some people who have them though, I think auckland uni is one. drifty
  24. I have a pair of maroon clowns, they lay eggs just below their anemone, but the male also spends loads of time moving stones around the tank. They havent laid eggs in a while though as I have moved house 2 times in the last 6 months and had to get another anemone as the other one I had split and just got too damn big.
  25. mines always out and about looking for food. Eats anything i feed the other fish spiralina nori etc. Found him in the overflow once but that was months ago
