  1. Another reason I feed every two days is so I can put LOTS into the tank so they all get some easily. I also turn off the return pump and 2 out of the 3 of my streams so they can get it! Small feeding only allows the pigs to eat it and the shy ones miss out.
  2. Nice thread Chim...hasnt been discussed for awhile.
  3. I only feed every two days and give them a decent feed that will last 25 fish approx 7-8 minutes. Cubes of Brine, spirlina flake and pellets all mixed. I add nori about twice a week if they are lucky. My fish are fat and my nitrates and Po4 read ZERO. Every day is too much in my tank as they have OTHER food to feed on such as Algae and pods etc.
  4. What about a mass debate...!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Cyano is also a process of cycling a semi mature tank, (Not always, but sometimes). When the tank has matured fully, cyano cannot survive if all the standard paraMETRES ARE NORMAL.
  6. cyno sux, I had a huge outbreak and vodka nailed it, but you need to be consistent. Good luck.
  7. Triple distilled vodka, (Smirnov)...1ml per 100 litres in the morning and night. Example: 1000 litres = 10ml per day. 5ml in the morning, 5 ml at night. If consistent everyday, should be gone in 3 weeks. Slow down on the food a bit too.
  8. Did they warn you that they like to gobble shrimp in their spare time? If so, enjoy, Im jealous, I was going to get one, They are cool!
  9. Now thats gotta be the bast damn comment for weeks!! (And no, I wont use the calculator)!!!!
  10. If you add too much when trialling you would be a fool. But the calculator could be used for this to get an idea of approximate size.
  11. At least this thread has actually been informative...Its been a bit dull of late.
  12. At the end of the day, I know what my tank needs and you guys know yours.
  13. Saves the cost each time you test...how? Im not sure I understand that.
  14. Also, I dont need scales or measuring equipment except for a tablespooon. I have based all 3 chemicals on the tablespoon.
  15. Ok... my calculator is this. The tank is a certain litreage. This will never change unless I upgrade or downgrade. The litreage is consistent. By testing, adding and retesting has set the amounts required for my litreage. Ie: I know now that for my litreage I need 1 heaped tablespoon to raise MG by 10ppm. So....If my tank reads 1290ppm, (As it did this morning), I simply add 6 tablespoons to raise to 1350ppm. Same with KH and Ca. As this is a known, I dont need a calculator. It is already calculated. I just feel it is more trustworthy. If it works for you guys, then thats great!
  16. What are your tank measurements Fay, You may not be wrong with your original measurement. Thats a big difference. You cant believe everything you read. 10cm x 10 cm x 10 cm = 1 litre. that is accurate.
  17. If you believe that the product from MEDCHEM will match up with that american stuff you're sadly mistaken. and if so which one? All chemical manufacturers have differing ingredients. Each to their own I guess!
  18. Personally, I wouldnt trust a calculator from anyone but myself. If something goes wrong are they going to come over to my place and hand over a cheque for $12,000.00. I dont think so. Hexahydrate is not on this list anyway as far as I could see.
  19. I cant believe you guys need calculators. Its not rocket science.

    Pieman

    looking good pieman.
  21. awesome growth with chlorides....
  22. You are using chlorides?
  23. The main types are caulerpa species, some of which are invasive. There are non invasive species available here and are available easily. The main reason IMO for using caulerpa is when nitrates and Phosphate levels are at inappropriate levels. I am using macroalgae at present to assist with remov ing briopsis. I have nearly achieved this and will disconyinue use following this. Continual use for macroalgae is neglible and IMO not necessary but can be used for temp measures. They certainly do pull out nutrients when present.
  24. Great colours dude...looking wicked!
