hi all, my bronze and albino cories has been really quiet lately. its been few weeks since theyve bred. these are matured adults, typical long males 5-7cms and good sized fat plump females breeding stock. i have my last 2 spawned with good numbers of eggs around 300 - 500. most got fungied and some died. i was not very experience at that time because it is my first attempt spawning corys. didnt bother raising the frys because it wasnt a good number of batch, only 8 survived at the end. thinking in mind that will breed again next time to get more frys. after that...they just very quiet for me. i am using bare tank. i tried feed them good food, bbs, blood worms, water change daily, but nothing is working. i even have tried separating males and females for a week. feed them live food, bloodworms etc. then put them back again with cooler temp and lots of water movement also with added airstone running. the males seem to be interested and start chasing females in schools...but the females still havent spawned. it seems like the females kept running away from males (obviously) or either she cant find a spot for depositing eggs. last time theyve spawned, eggs are just layed on the glass. these buggers should be easy enough to spawn...why dont they do it anymore?? Just wondering are there any tips from corydoras gurus out there that can help.

IMO not necessary....i think a MH suspension on the top and grow some plants would be the bomb! :lol:

you probably need more males to get them breeding. also are you keeping other fish (like guppies) in the tank? if so , better dedicate them in their own tank if you want to breed them. filter wise..make sure dont get eggs or frys sucking into the filter...you lose frys this way in which you probably dont even see it.

i have them together ....but they dont breed . platies are happy with platies and swordtails leave them alone.

is there anywhere we can purchase white sand?

hey thats great. just a trial out co2 method for me. talk about hassle...i hatch bbs everyday! now thats hassle for me.

oopss..i havent explain this clearly..i mean im try to use CO2 injection in conjuction with flourish excel into tank .

hi all, i am new to this. i try and test this out on a 2.25 L coke bottle. the question is what is the right recipe for the mix? i think i have overdone it and now my trial out tank become cloudy and fill with yeast ....lol :lol:

you are right. it is a bacteria bloom which caused this. generally with poor water condition, no enough aeration and with a high temperature the bacteria can really take off. platies are tough little guys. give them a good change and dose of meth. blue for couple days they should be fine.

in both pectorals and other lower fins...it grows at the very end fin edge where the fin meets the body. i am using bare bottom tank with uv & sump filtration. funny how this disease comes up when water quality is good.

oh man.....some of my albino corys have a lump on their fins....not sure what they are.....seems to grow a bit smaller now....nyone has this problem?
