  2. waiyt until they all go darker first, leaving them longer wont hurt them, jus sit it on top of your tank next to your light and they should be ok there,or if you can just let them go into the tank they came from aslong as nothing will predate on them Tim

  11. i have two skunk loaches, and yea they do a wicked job of snail removing, only took about 4-5 days and i had a snail rid 4" tank as for gettig along, they can get a bit full on and anoy the other fish, but clown loaches i have never ever had any problems with towards other fish , they are a great comunity loach. and they should be fine with your fish tony Tim
  12. i have about three brown apple snail egg sacks, and they are laying them quite often,i have just had a batch hatch. what i did was wait until i could see the eggs breaking down and then transfered them to a container of water and let the baby snails break free into the container. i now have about 50 of the tiny lil things, was only a small sack tho [--------------] so am expecting alot more from the bigger two. Tim
  13. hows about a pic nickiboi!! Tim
  14. yea i have them and they r f****n huge!!!!,definalty not a good fish for a small tank, they grow rapidly aswell ,and they look all black and grey as they get older, not so attractive, from piranah look alikes. also when the nock themselfs they look ugly as and often stay all chewed up with chunks missing or scars ect. so definatly dont get them aye ,not as flash as they seem once you kno about them Tim
  15. yep got that right!!,we have mulitple tanks outside, with plants fish ect. Tim
  16. well if your lucky, and find a realy nice happy glaiser, theyd probly cut it for you for nothing... but having said that, first you need to find one  its realy easy to cut glass, all it takes is practice and patience, well probly a few other things too, but practice makes perfect. remember to use a "straight" straight edge, an oiled cutter, and a flat surface like carpet to cut on. run the cutter along the cut to lubricate it a couple of times, and then start at the top edge, just so that the cutting wheel is just over the edge of the glass, apply pressure and draw back maintaining pressure over glass to the oppisite edge. to break slip a small pencil under edge of cut and apply even downwards pressure on both sides of the cut, errice(sp)edges and there you have it a fresh cut piece of glass. hope this is helpful... Tim
  17. if you are not too sure about re-siliconing it yourself, why not take it into peter ,at port nicholson glass. hes great with fishtanks, they are the main part of his business...and hes alot cheaper than most other glass outfits. 14 petone ave, unit 4A.....phn: 939 9030. Newt

Newt
  19. same here sounds wicked!!!! Newt
  20. umm nah,i went there today using a reasonblly large(not a realy small 1)net attached to a bamboo pole,i sorta fished around in the weeds, lunging into them quickly worked best i think.as for seeing them before i caught them,i had no idea where they were exactly ,just luck and i spose it could be the fact that i knew they were in there from a while ago i will have to try and get some more at another stage.... Tim
  21. well yes i did get some, but only a pittiful 3 they were harder to catch this time,or mabye thew are fewer in number :-? but anyway these look very similar to gohst shrimp found in sea rock pools, but i have noticed they have faint spots or darker patches covering most of their body.they came out of waiphetu streem along with a few bullies. so yay great find i say!! ill get a pic soon if the dam things will stay still long enough lol Newt

  25. i use rock salt in most tanks, generally just a bit erery once in a while, or if theres sick fish, and also a bit if im setting up a new tank. mollies, guppys, plattys, sourds and some cichlids all like a bit in there water,in the wild minarals and salts would all ready be in there waters anyway..
