just a few questions if you dont mind me asking in this post magnesium helps the groth of coraline....corect? i understand that disolving Mg ribon in vinegar gives you a salt and a gas(magnesium......+hydrogen) Metal + acid = Salt + hydrogen? now my main question is would adding this Mg mixture to my tank be effective and safe to do so? i would guess that the MG you reefers dose your tanks is in a different form, but am curious to see if i could dose some in this way? i have snails in with my wcmms and they are all sweet, have huge numbers of fry still,if the snails did have an effect on the fry numbers ,well didnt realy notice it. but what give what sharn says ago if u find that things arent going right with them. or invest in a good snail eater, like a loach mabye....most wont be botherd with the tiny fry so no probs there, and once they are around the surface they will be completly out of the loaches way. hiya lyndy, ummmm...i kno a few things, but i dont know how to tell exactly when there going to breed. what i've found with most egg scattering fish, like danios, serpaes, and black widows which i had a go at breeding,is that it worked best to fatten all the females up with good foods, such as live food and frozen bloodworm ect, and then intorduce the fish to the breeding tank at night just before the lights go off. when the lights go on in the morning,or the sunrises and lights the tank, they are triggerd into spawning,at whish they chase each other and spin in circles around plant of whatever it is they have to scatter eggs on. people that i know of have used a number of differnt artifitial plants,of astroturf, marbles, spawning nets live plants and mosses good luck with breeding your rosys Tim

Both my filters have started working! Newtman (Tim) galloped to my rescue with a backpack full of cleaning gadgets. They both had an airlock and one's intake pipe was blocked. So now I can heave a sigh of relief and my fish look happier too Cheers Jude

what size are the teeth on the overflow?looks like they did a wicked job of it!! was thinking of going about 1cm with 5mm spaces between the cuts for mine. your steup will look good with all the workings of it hidden below the tank

no not tape!!,i ment as in the "creating threaded holes" tapping. yea for the base i was planing on routing a groove into something for it to sit in. i am unfamillar with the names of typs of skimmers, but i was planing on putting the intake for the air through a small stand pipe which will be attached to the intake of each pump that is making the bubbles. so as in using about two pumps setup in a closedloop fassion, with air being drawn in by the intake of each, and churned up realy fine. for the water going into the skimmer i will have it fed by a pump in the sump,or 1 attched somewhere outside.
-
steeve.. what kind of plastic is it?it might do,but i need the wall thickness to enable the base and top to be taped into to afix a plate to the bottom and the business end to the top,so might not be thick enough, but ill let you kno if i do,thanks for the offer anth.. yes probly somewhere around there, depending on pump cost.
-
hey what pumps are you all using on your skimmers?and can you buy them seperatly? any recomendations, and links ?
-
oh cool, thanks heaps have fun in brisbane Tim
-
Awsome!! :bounce: ,sweet as graig yes please, are your sure you dont want anything for it?? :-? i have lets say contacts 8) who can hopefully machine some parts for me so the only price issues realy will be the pumps. what thickness is it ? dam was just out round at mark n janes last night ,lyk 5 min from you lol. kapimana meetings on wed, mabye could sort summin then? Cheers Tim
-
ah i c,yea if thats the case probly is better to buy 1,i was planing on it being about 1.5m high, mabye thiner pipe? or just dw abt the whole idea all together :-? if it works out cheap enough for all the bits i need then ill still go ahead with it but ill have to fine some prices first.
