  1. and what do we do after that?all the best to everyone!
  2. not hard to get a permit to `hold` gamebirds from the local fish and game dept.
  3. maybe,(probably)but I know for sure the poos come out the other end and any thing else would be by that other word ,Regurgitate???
  4. I have raised hundreds of bobwhites and calis from hatching exclusively on meatbird crumbles.Greens etc as they got bigger and more active. As far as the crumble being too high in protein and burning the crop I would say this is dubious?they need as much protein as they can get and even the meatbird crumbles are borderline. Most of the pheasant and game bird rearers get their own made up to the higher protein levels they want. Also raised the king quail on sieved crumbles as well with good results ,mainly because it had anti cocidiosus medication in it.
  5. nor are the bobwhites, just depends on your neighbours I suppose?
  6. if your going camping in the nelson region, you may note a serious drop in the number of quail families about after the recent deluge? They can fly at a few days old so you will only be able to catch very young ones which would require a heat source to keep warm and alive for a few days if you ae out camping? These are easy to obtain nowadays by captive breeders and you may do more for the local birds if you leave them with their parents.Even so they are still not suited to keep in aviaries, unless maybe really well planted huge ones? They never settle and as mentioned really flighty and also feisty with other birds,we had one once the kids rescued from a cat that was reared and would put a full sized reeves pheasant into a corner and give it a good hiding!
  7. was it a pyjama python henward,That would explain it being "a very managable size"???? :sml1: :sml1:

  10. all you can do is provide the necessary conditions and wait.nature should take care of the rest. \
  11. what happened to that white blue tongue?who has got it now?
  12. I always let them have their first winter indoors(herman`s and boxies)after that they take their chances.I know breeders that let their hatchling herman`s hibernate straight away.lets face it thats what happens in the wild.I have had plenty of redears hatch out naturally but you don`t see them till the next spring. what sort you got tim01 and what area you live?
  13. good work, how you going with the leopards?
  14. better to have them out year round and let them hibernate naturally, they will just dig a hole and sleep for the winter.

  16. most people I know have water dragons that have layed eggs by now?
  17. i would be more concerned about his hydration levels?if they are low they can estivate rather than brumate.Have a look at his eyes and see if they appear sunken at all.I would get him up and give him a soak in the bath with tepid water for a while.have done this with my own during brumation, just dry them well and put back.
  18. I seem to remember Living art saying something about parasitic wasps that attack these spiders so a mesh top might be better???

  21. don`t know about the `nice and round` he mentioned, but I go by the colour more, being nice and white like a button mushroom? My eggs were always the same basic shape as yours like a big jellybean. One or two I can see towards the corners of the containers look ,,,maybe ok???Give her a good feed up on calcium as well.egg laying drags it out of them, and some of your eggs look abit uneven shellwise just by whay I can see from the pics??
