  1. and I thought it was called camoflage??
  2. yr 2k was not about the end of the world as I recall?something about a breakdown of anything computer orientated and asociated mayhem? As for 2012 let`s just wait and see,not long to go now,you can almost count the sleeps?
  3. is that the new way of closing down!??
  4. could be due the higher than normal atomospheric humidity we have had of late? They don`t look overly moist by what I can see from the pic?just don`t give them any more and make your mix a bit dryer than normal.I have seen eggs rounder than that(ones that never got dug up on laying and after alot of rain)also burst a couple once in my early years and drowned a heap of embryos once in a floating heated water incubator??
  5. does the blue on the frogs back legs count?(the water was cold)
  6. how do you explain an albino blackbird then?
  7. probably not unfortunately.Without seeing her I would suggest for the front feet to be turned up as you describe would lead me to think that the bones have been that soft or even broken and healed up like that due to the lizard walking around on them when they were actually broken or soft and rubbery because of the lack of calcium?Just my thoughts so I could be wrong, others may have better ideas?
  8. sounds like alot of flow there?you could have a spray bar along one side and even split the flow and build a small rock platform etc with a cascade /waterfall ?if you have a wide flat return area it would slow down the current.A word of caution, make sure your intake is secure and has a good grill of some sort,I have heard of turtles pulling these off and getting sucked on to the pipe and drowning, way smaller flow rate than yours too.
  9. abra cadabra, probably just a slip of the tongue??? sounds alot of critters and is but no doubt all hatchlings, snakes the size of shoelaces,turtles/torts half a walnut??
  10. frogs/offspring (splits) i sold from an albino female and green male last year arnt producing any albinos for one breeder apparently :-? I cant work it out, when I bred the off spring back to albino i got a small % albino each time which hints the genes are straight forward to me. anyone else bred them yet and care to share?
  11. is that the only way you will get any?
  12. these would be the ones you just got the other day? poor diet and lack of uv light would be my first guess.get some decent food and get them into natural sunlight if you can, other than that a good new uv light tube as low down over their basking area as you can.Feed them calcium rich foods such as small fish with bones(guppies, culled goldfish etc)stay away from red meat, oxheart as even though you can dust it with calcium it will wash off in the water.Processed turtle foods with the calcium added will be better, also float a bird cuttlefish in there, they will gnaw on it to get calcium.
  13. bugger, thought he should have been here by now?? :dunno:
  14. verygood, has been there a long time and would have the most extensive reptile collection you will find at the one location in NZ.The currator/owner is very approacable and knowlegable.Well worth a visit.
  15. so you did not believe us the first time?
  16. Also that `lizard` has a very snakelike head? and it looks like not much in the leg dept?So is it a snake developing legs or a lizard losing them??
  17. that may well be,but in fact there is not much point closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. In this case the skinks are spread far and wide up and down the north Island, largely due to the presence of railway lines, they hop on catch a ride and hop off to start a new colony.
  18. he doesn`t do it,they do it themselves! I have some in my lot that throw a few with extra red and the stripe down the head.
  19. i think a big part of the problem is most breeders do not bother to grow their own stock on and breed them with any planning.?I have never bothered myself in the past just going for adults from wherever you could get them.have not even lifted any eggs this year, tell a lie did 2 the other day.
  20. not for a youngster(assuming this is the same one you got early in the year?)needs way more protein in the form of insects, locusts and crickets being better.calcium, calcium and more calcium.
  21. no need to post all this again? just study the care sheet that is on here already?
  22. sorry carlos, not my fault if you are slow on the up take?if you can`t make sense out of it after several attempts,it surprisies me that you were able to turn your computer on?
