  1. what sort of toilet paper do they like best?
  2. A dish of bran flakes seems to be apreciated.Where do you get your grass from?orchards etc nearby?you have to be very careful with this as even small traces may nt kill them but render them sterile. Also your house may have been sprayed at some time with residual insecticide?(ripcord etc)
  3. tortoises are better on their own. They can have serious behaviour problems if kept in groups with dominance issues between males and females/siblings etc.in the wild they have a territory that they defend against other males and only come together to mate.To insist they need `friends` is just a human emotion that people put out there. Your right about the waterdragon/The most un-petlike lizard we have in my opinion.if one were to escape you would have a slim chance of recatching it?
  4. the academics know all those big fancy words,we can never compete with that? most of the stuff they talk is just someone else`s work they have studdied up on,all good if the first person got it right but quite often useless information presented in an unrecognisable form??
  5. you must be in la la land dragonz?how long has this thread been going and you still seem no further down thae track after how many posts and opinions of people that do know?Give up while you are ahead, and the last thing you need is more dragons, especially baby ones???

  7. yes,and no.Canada is friggin cold to what we call cold?
  8. basket fungus is what its called.
  9. feed the lousts on grated carrot before you feed out?done both, locusts easeir for me by far, young ones are soft as?
  10. stick with locusts, faster and easier, just feed out at the right size to suit the fish.
  11. you can tell them till your blue in the face, most don`t want to know and carry on their own sweet way despite good advice based on experience, who is going to put with much of that for very long?
  12. very informative post, where you slip up for me is using the term domestication for an animal that is just a miniature dinosaur and is millions of years of adaptation looking you in the eye.You should try that sometime, just look into their eyes?Don`t try to tell me that a few generations of captive breeding will make sod all difference to what they need or don`t need.
  13. your questions are not much better. You have been getting good advice from people who know but don`t seem to be any further down the track.Another exanple of someone who buys a few dragons or whatever and after a few internet googles is an expert.
  14. talk english LA,its a load of crap! jc234,your posts are becoming tiresome,a couple of months back you didn`t know how to transport a turtle, now you are an expert on brumation?Thats a hell of a big jump?
  15. nothing to do with starving them? The cooler temps will have slowed them down to a level where they will not want to eat anyway?I hope this does not end in tears!!
  16. whats that stuck onto my foot?
  17. cool video,as a side note barnowls as in the video are newzealand`s latest native bird, being a species that arrived here by its own means and is now breeding here.A pair was found at kaitaia in july 2009 with 3 fledgling chicks, they are presumed to have arrived here as wind blown stragglers from Aussie.A male and female have obviously met up after their journey which is a miracle in itself.
  18. when I first started with turtle breeding years back,I would feed them live daphinia and mosquito larvae, mysis shrimp etc anything that was moving was brilliant, daphnia especially had an action that seemed to attract their attention. As the breeding method was sorted and bigger numbers of babies needed feeding live food became harder to get in the quantities required so I just did away with it and used reptomin floating pellets which you could see little bite marks out of.Once a few start eating the others soon catch on and I also used to run the temp at 30 or so which got them going. To change them from live food to still can often be a problem especially if you have a shy one.Just persevere and have food in there if it wants it.I would not say it was a runt as such yet,but if it does not start to find an appetite it could well end up to be one.
  19. mine used to dig their own hole down into the soil. They had the advantage of soft pumice based soil which was well insulating and also free draining.
  20. they will try and go through all the motions, just you will get very few,if any fertile eggs? ps sneaky 2 has bred more wd`s than you and I have had hot dinners!!!
  21. thermostats can be finnicky and a dud off the shelf is not that uncommon. Also with these modern cars there is a correct procedure that needs to be followed to bleed airlocks out of your system?Go on to the trademe message board /motoring and ask your question thee alot of helpful mechanics etc on there will give you good advice on how to to this for your vehical, good luck.
  22. why is that?If they are packed by someone who knows what they are doing and labeled accordingly,I can`t see any reason not to send them by overnight courier?Probably be alot faster and thereby less stressful than a 2-3 day trip by petbus? They will only cool off and sleep anyhow so if they are packed so they can`t rattle around and get injured whats the problem?
