  1. sounds like something Henward would buy??
  2. you sound pleased with that?way too hot!
  3. some of you newbies on here really amaze me,want this ,want that and rush out and get it for big dollars, but don`t even have the clues to get the basic equipment needed??The sort of people i am always worried will end up with any of my babies?Others,i should add do everything needed included their homework and have everything they need before the critter arrives.
  4. you need to go to an avian vet and tell them what you are wanting to treat. They will give you the apropriate medication at the correct dillution for the species to be treated.Animal drenchs are just that and accordingly stronger on a body weight average for the animal concerned, sheep drench is weaker than cattle strength etc etc.My vet has experience using some of these for what is really not what the products have been made for.there are some big does and don`ts that only comes with hard won experience.i get a dilution of ivomec and instructions for further dilution for each species, usually based on an average bodyweight.
  5. they should be well within your reach nowdays?I bought 10 youngsters last year for $20 each?just have to be patient and wait for them to colour up.even the white breasts are coming down now.Shop around from now on as the youngsters come available.
  6. my experience is the exact opposite??also the canneries were always leaving nests of babies at the drop of a hat or hatching them out and not feeding them.gouldians just keep the seed up and they rear their young no probs.
  7. canaries are nice enough birds but seems the thing they do best is to fall off their perch for no good reason?gouldians are alot hardier imo?
  8. you may have to clean out some old ones to make room.happens to me sometimes.
  9. feed them more, and plenty of it.locusts, waxmoth, lean strips of ox heart etc
  10. i think you may have got the wrong end of the stick? That appears to be a private operator setup in bussiness, approved by DOC to take paying customers for a guided tour. You can still go by yourselves for nothing?
  11. if it just dries up and diesback like that ,rather than a physical pulloff there maybe a chance it will not regrow?not really up with these but someone like perpin may be helpful?
  12. probably not,it all depends on your local DOC workers.bad luck if you get stuck with some of the pedantic twits that can also be filled to over flowing with self importance, that can be found `working` there(this term is used loosely).
  13. I think you may be looking at them too much and putting them off maybe?I recently got a female off tm and to be honest its not the friendliest lizard I have seen,in fact I think it may well be the unfriendliest lizard i have seen?I have never seen it eat or even come out,if i lift the lid of its hide box it will jump at me and give a hiss.I would imagine the best thing to do would be to provide the right conditions and let nature take its course?
  14. it is fat but you don`t know what its been fed?could be just obese? Many are the stories of definate males producing litters of young?
  15. if its not a male,I can gaurantee it will be a female.
  16. new someone that did it and said he was flogged to death working for the franchisee and got sick of running around collecting(trying to collect)monies owed?I would not think going into winter would be an ideal time for this sort of work, maybe up your way would be ok,but round here grass growth stops for a few months?
  17. I bet its not in christchurch??
  18. this got nothing to do with valentine`s day??passion?
  19. I have seen some in books but never had a problem either.
  20. there were only 2 consistent breeders of these up till a couple of years back.both have gone out of them one way or another and it seems both breeding colonies have ceased or production is low? Also a you have to be a bit more concise with your incubation,if you can`t even get breeding stock nigh on impossible to get eggs let alone hatch them?Have seen cycles like this in the bird world when everyone wants something thats hard to get so everyone breeds them up and you can`t give them away.Same sort of thing here but the breeding cycle to raise the young and get them actually breeding is alot longer?
