  1. too late, just got a tunze cleaner with my TS24 kit, and what a difference to the tank they make.
  2. Ditto, loads of all 3 in the sump and the refugium, not to mention the tank, but the manderin I just bought will reduce these I'm sure. The Mysid shrimp surprise me by the quantity. At night with a torch they are zooming all over the tank!!

    de lighting

Hello all, I'm arranging the bulk order from DE Lighting, do if you are interested go to the commercial Trade and exchange section and list your requirements. You'll need to put money into my account once prices and freight and Gst are added so be aware of this. Shawn.
  4. Happy new year everyone. Just got back from holiday to find a nice little infestation of Monti eating nudis covering all my montis. lost my green and almost lost the orange. Cap is covered and even my purple is being attacked. Read up on them and spoken with Layton, seems best thing to do is manually remove them, or remove all montis and let it go without them for over 6 months. Some sucess with wrasses and manderins, may be worth a go. Any thoughts?????? Shawn.

    Xmas break

Well, I'm off today up north camping for 3 and a half weeks, tanks in the good hands of a keen mate (armed withloads of notes and training). I'd like to wish everyone on the board a very merry xmas and happy new year. It's fun being part of this board, and I have learnt alot. Special thanks to Jetski and a few others for all the help and time thay have given me this year, and i look forward to the next 12 months to see how far i can progress my tank. Shawn.

    New toys

about 5 months too early Jetski............

    New toys

Tend to agree with reef and skuzza, my deltec was by far the best investment i have made so far, and although my seios are working fine, they don't compare to the Tunze Streams, which is why 2 more are on there way to me now......
  8. oops forgot the refractometer and test kits............
  9. Over $10,000 so far..... Not counting the streams and controller (TS24 kit) on its way from seame, and the 902 deltec on the list for early next year....... another couple of 6100's on that controller would be nice...
  10. It has to have a needle valve incorporated in the reg, basically one made for the aquarium trade. The low flow rate cannot be achieved with std regs. try reef or jetski, they both have them.
  11. Ok, not the brightest Saltwater fish My one hosts the corner of the tank by the overflow and feeds the overflow.
  12. I lost a clown about a mouth ago, when it choked on a bit of food. I pulled it out with tweezers but it was too late. I don't think the are the brightest fish around....

    Coals spawning

I notice there is a thread on reef central with a number of reefers experiencing the same spawning activity, all around (or exactly)the same time. Very interesting.
  14. Its already got 75 kg of rock in it at one end. Tanks 2.3 x .6 x.6. Over 1000l with sump and refugium.
  15. Since yesterday Jetski 8)
  16. Picked up the rock tonight, stunning pieces, approx 75kg. Will begin cooking at the weekend.
  17. Layton, Its not for a new tank but for my established tank. If I cook it, will I need to seed tha bacteria, i.e. with rock or water from my tank, remembering that its been sitting out of water dry for over a year.
  18. So what would you recommend for dead rock that has been in a tank, and now dry for over a year, similar but maybe not necessary to rinse and dip as much????. I saw you looking feelers, a wonder who ran me up at the end??
  19. Hey Layton, Just to change to subject, didn't you write something describing how to cook rocks a while back?. Can't find it and I've managed to buy a pile of dead rock I want to cook so i can add it to my existing tank. ??
  20. yep!! And salinity 1.026 with the new refractometer.
  21. Yesterdays results: PH - 8.2 (Salifert) Po3 - undetectable (salifert) No3 - 0 (salifert) KH - 9.0 (salifert) Calcium - 435ppm (salifert) Mg - 1235ppm (salifert) Temp 25-26.2. Looks good to me.........
  22. Over the last 4-5 weeks I've been settling my calcium reactor in and tuning the drip and bubble rates. I've had Kh swinging from 8-12 although its settled down nicely to 9.0, with calcium at 440. I went overseas for a week when things hadn't settled down and Kh was 12 when i got back. During this time calcium (I presume) precipitated out onto my pumps, rocks, bottom glass, etc. made a bit of a mess as it wasn't a nice white, but a tan/brown colour, but definitely a gritty sandy solid. Also lost a couple of acros at this stage with STN, but may be more to the fluctuations than the high Kh. Now that its settled down, definitely some growth starting to show (rapid growth on Montis) and finally getting coraline growth, although again, it doeslike the precipitate that formed.
  23. Two front shots just taken. Cant get back far enough in the little room to get better shots front on..... Shawn.
  24. hmmm... Reef getting sick of SPS, ....checking bank balance.....
