  1. :bounce: :bounce: I'm shifting next year, and get to setup a new tank, in a wall in the living room, bigger, etc. 2.3 x 900 x 650 - flash type of glass front (starfire?) and a dedicated fishroom. Told the missus, has to be included in the cost of the shift
  2. yep, always wanted a ph meter, same there wasn't much interest in a marine depot order
  3. Never had any problems reading from my salifert ph kit. Sometimes colours may be between 2 shades.
  4. and anyway, you post your website, that has your name on it "James"
  5. definitely a personal thing, agree to disagree.
  6. last time I called that him on the site he pulled me up!! must have secrets..
  7. thats bombers tank off RC. Are you looking at the same tank Chimera??? Yuck??. That tank is a stunner. In my top 5 as well. Just goes to show everyone has different tastes, but calling that tank yuck?
  8. Personally, I think looks sand looks nicer, but the theory behind BB makes too much sense to ignore, presuming your a sps nut.
  9. 300w heater into drum after mixing, let it stabilise for a day and add. 900w for your tank Chimera, wow.
  10. and my tank is BB now, and I don't consider it yuck, each to their own.
  11. with the amount of coraline now growing on the glass on the bottom of my tank, it will looks like a flat ledge soon.
  12. SPS, SPS, and a few more SPS - love them. Oh and some fish. ASW Love the arcadia series, but would like 4 X double 250s (8) 902, or 1004 Bare bottom - no hesitation Calcium reactor, make up differnec with CaCl etc as I do now. Combo streams and closed loops - new icecap one once flaws sorted out as little as possible, carbon and maybe phospahate remover no no none yes, all 3 definitely If I had unlimited budget, I'd copy Steve Weast, minus the sand.
  13. ok so how do I do the "quote" thing
  14. yeah skippy it's ridiculous really. One of the main users I'm sure is hot water. We are pretty hopeless at conserving hot water. We are mains pressure, and have good high volum/pressure and showers. The girls have hot baths.... Gas hot water is something we definitely should have invested in when we renovated the house. Mind you, a power bill of $250 without the tank I'd consider ok.
  15. don't heat the house with power, use a freestanding fire :-?
  16. my tanks in a uninsulated ply shed, no choice in that matter - will change in future. run a business from home with large chiller, another tropical fresh tank, computers, 2 deep freezers, fridge, water pumps for house and irrigation (tank water), pumps for draining water tank pits, large amount of lights since renovation, air conditioner in fish room tank - 750 watt metal halides (11 hrs) 130 watt PC (13hrs), 3 x 6100 streams on controller, 2 seios and 2 power heads behind rock, 1 laguna 6 - 1 laguna 7, 902 deltec skimmer, pumps for calcium reactor, pumps and heater for pre mixed salt 50% of time, 500 watt heater, lights above refugium (24hrs), pump in refugium, top up unit with pump, .........
