  2. Took some photos...Updated main post.. thanks for identify them. Cheers
  3. damn.... I will move these three guys to grow up tank right after this weekend water change..... Male with no color = no good = no food :rotf:
  4. I got them from you Ryan....a while ago. Probably May last year? When they are fry... Im pretty sure one of them is some sort of peacocks. I was thinking it is a subdominant male. But it really not showing any color... so I guess it is a female. Anyway, I will take photos of these three and put them up tonight. Btw, none of them showing color....
  5. well.... I will try to get some recent pic for it. this one was 2 month ago...
  6. I have three female cichlid in my tank that im not able to identify them. I think they are either some sort of peacocks or electric blue... here is one of them. I will try to put up the other two shotly. This one now grow to about 6 ~7 cm now. 1. Now this little boy grow bigger... here is the recent photo. Here are two other fishes that Im not sure.... 2. I think this is a female peacock... 3. absolutely no idea for this one... body is shiny silver color... help anyone... :nilly:
  7. You tank glass are so clean... I tried with my 550D, cannot get that clear and close shot photo. You must stay infront of tank for hours to take a clear shot..... What software you use to put your name one the picture? Photomark?
  8. I see, good to know Ryan. Yes, I am limited by number of tanks. I am totally like get possesed and crazy about fishkeeping cichlids now... looks like I do need to get a few new tanks and setup a fishroom...
  9. Hmm... smaller fish will grow slow in big tank.. Rayn can you put it into details a bit? I am worried about some of my juniors in my big tank.... Is it just because they may not get food properly? not enough food? any other reason? I was told biger tank + resonable frequent water change will make fish grow faster... I cant really see any serious aggro going on in there. My smaller fish gets food alright. probably a little bit over feed.... So do you think they'd better put into a grow up tank rather than in the big tank?
  10. petstop....I may go and check out this weekend. I was having trouble to locate it....
  11. coral sand is the right choice. It looks beautiful with the light on. Ocean feeling. But you need to clean your tank everyweek or half a week to make it looks clean. As the fish waste looks pretty obvious on the white substrate....

    new tank

let me know if anyone of you breed successfully. I am knee some of the fry. They are such nice looking fish  Cheers
  13. Thats Red Jewel for sure. A hungry ugly beast always looking for food.... But if you feed them with good food their color could be really nice. See my red jewel below . I feed them NLS.
  14. bobo, your yellow looks ok to me. I cant say they are A grad but at least with good color as far as i can see from your photo. You just bought your yellow off the trademe with one female and 12 baby right? I was watching on that auction and end up missed it  good work. You got a great deal there. You should get some dems from Ryan. That should be a good combination with your yellows. :happy2: :happy2: :happy2:
  15. I should get some yellow off you I will see how it goes for my yellows for another 2cm. If no change I will grab some off you. Also the red Zebra...Generally called... I got some red Zebra which has very tiny black dot over the head and tail area. I did a bit research they are probably Peach red Zebra. The black marks is going to disapear when they grow to adult. Male adult will turn to peach color and female remain red orange ish color.... Correct me if I am wrong. Do you breed red Zebra at all? Ryan?
  16. LOL you up really early Ryan... Yep, I use to get saveral really cheap yellow about 2~3 cm and they all grow up to about 5 cm now. But not really good coloring. Some of them have little bit black line in the middle of the body. Some of them just not yellow enough which the bottom of the body turns a bit white. I try to give them good food and hope they could change their color a bit when they grow up. We will see... :smln: So yes bobo, I would recommend you to get your future cichlid from good source. :bounce:
  17. it is good if you can have airstone on all the time. Fish will love it. But for me, I only open the air pump when I feeding them, and also open the light only that time. For about 2 hours a day. Coral sand is good choice. I use coral sand as well. Coral sand with right lightning could create fantastic effect and look for your tank. Looks really beautiful.
  18. Great Pics... I really need to have a full tutorial on my Canon 550D...
  19. Sweet... Im going to give it a try :nilly: :nilly:
  20. Yep...I think the temp could be lower than 23C... I learned a lesson from that. My poor blue babies... Now the temp is right at 27C. Hope my next batch will survive. Rob...Nice setup and effort on DIY your back ground :happy2: I got a new tank setup to work on and still trying to find time to do a DIY POLY background for it. My first try.... Any hint for background DIY works?
  21. Hi Robe, I agree with Ryan. Also I would recommand you to leave her holding for at least one more week. another two to be safe... Temp is the key for how FAST the fry get mature. You did right thing to raise Temp from 24 to 27. I was have my powder blue holding for 4 weeks under temp 23 ~ 24 and fry still with big yoke with them. Ryan came in suggest to leave her another one or two weeks for safe. But I strip them out on week 5. They still with yoke on them. 21 of them end up non survived. But female fish get back to colony fine. What a tragedy... So I pay enough patient on my yellow and they comes out fine with out yoke on their body. I think you just need give it a bit more time.
  22. Yellows are so nice color and they really like marine fish.... well....yeah I may give it a try
  23. Let me know if you are interested to use NLS formula. I could get some for you cheaper than petshop. :slfg:
  24. 27 degree and I just put some updates on the first post.... I guess temp does play the magic. I hope my little powder blue can free swim soon. Otherwise their mum could die because of hunger and over stress ....
