  1. I'm not encouraging anyone to be stoned at all. Looking at the scientific uses for positive constructive effects on society. Its a flawed topic, because its illegal we don't have the real numbers, but surely you must see that those people who want to smoke are going to regardless and all we've done with prohibition (when we know its a relatively low harm substance and is FACTUALLY less harmful than legal substances) is put them in harms way and fuel criminal activity? Don't you think humans should get to a point where we say "well hay, you can totally put what you want in your body cause its YOUR body", and isn't the result just another form of natural selection? I don't regret being born alan, i love living, but life is pretty crappy a lot of the time tbh, so if some people use marijuana in the evenings as a form of relaxation or escapism in order to maintain a normal, healthy lifestyle i really have no problem with that. As long as its not around others or children.
  2. 15min drive from my house is the larger brackish water mossy and they breed in the millions in these rock pools. One net and i've got to much, use old bloodworm plates to re-freeze into mossy squares.
  3. AMEN! It still kills me how ignorant people are, i'm not even a huge advocate of marijuana and even i can see the insane advantages legalization would bring for our country. We continually have the the top minds around the world telling us how retarded this issue is, we continually are presented with the evidence that supports this as well as the truth behind why it was illegalized in the first place. Nobody is saying there isn't a problem, but more and more people are realizing there is a far better solution.
  4. I boil it and sink it and strain it out with my fish net, then i add a small amount to the bottom, good for the eggs too.
  5. Ban alcohol and see what people do. This whole argument has really done its best to shed light on the issues of prohibition, but try as some of us may, as is the usual case, a few just don't listen.
  6. Oh god, This is becoming a chore! David you've gotta understand i answered those very lazily, cause im kinda over answering the same questions and going around and around in the same circles. Fact is you or I do not have enough of the information yet to draw a complete picture, but we do have some basic understandings, this should be enough to make educated decisions. The information your after is definatly available and i can find it, its obviously gonna take me some time to collaborate it all though. for the record though the statistics for mental health issues cause by cannabis use are very low when compared with other substances, some people are also genetically predisposed to being more susceptible to hormonal change in the brain causing mental illness that can be triggered by such things as marijuana, but also by things like cheese, say C'est la vie , and if you think mental health issues are a new phenomenon caused by the smoking of weed then I've got a harsh reality check for you.
  7. Ive never bred neons but i have bred glowlights, rasboras, cherry barbs, white clouds, danios in this fashion. I've never checked my water, I don't even used de chlorinater or additives. Just let the water for my water changes sit at room temp for a while and feed as much live food and high quality food as possible. I do use peat, Is also good to use mature fish and by increasing your numbers to 20 you increase your chances.
  8. When more of your shellies breed ill buy some off you, ill come for a trip down to nelson and bring my addiction studies in relation to aggression and how it effects these really important small parts of your brain, that you need to not make bad decisions, specifically about alcohol. :bounce: Its just poison with longer lasting and far more detrimental affects on the body mentally and physically than most substances.
  9. btw for the record, i am well aware of this, my ex partner was very voilent towards me and closer to the end, towards my dog too. hell hath no fury like a woman  sorry ladies
  10. cam you are partially right. There definatly are people who are pre-disposed to being more violent than others and therefore potentially more violent when drinking. Well i can tell you, having hit people in both states - with the alcohol there is very little thinking required before violence - when stoned, the apprehension and anxiety and amount of over thinking is enough to deter you from any kind of violent act if you can avoid it. With alcohol you can black out and do outrageous things including hurting poeple, with weed you can black out and not remember anything but thats cause you were a sleep. With alcohol your strength is at 120% when being raukus, with weed your minimal effort is required for all activities.
  11. haha sorry, not intentionally trying to be stereotypical, i just start getting lazy and lethargic with my typing when i've been doing it far too long. Just looking at behavioral trends in regards to the "damage" aspect of one substance over another. Cam your obviously a guy, cause this is a very common side men take when this issue gets brought up, i'm a bit of a self proclaimed feminist. so when i see someone say "WOMAN do it to" as if its an excuse, i just get worried, because its not my expressions that are possibly limiting anything, its now yours. To say Alcohol will "not make you violent" when we know it decreases your decision making centers ability to operate and increases your aggression centers is more or less neanderthal. To say that you've never been violent, or even to say that not everyone gets violent "on the booze" doesn't even begin to become an argument when thousands of years of history moves us towards one trend. I wasn't meaning to say that you or I or anyone here gets drunk and goes and beats his family and wife, i was actually being very stereotypical to make a point i guess. but the fact remains that these are still problems and shoving your head in the sand and saying "wasn't me" like shaggy isn't helpful or progressive in the slightest.
  12. You should get more than 2 neons! Try a school of 20. Keep them in a tank where your not trying to breed them. Feed them up with as much high quality food as possible and daily water changes. Let them settle for a week or two, but spend a lot of time observing, the females will be fatter, more rotund, fuller looking and usually over all larger in size (if all at the same age/food availability). Remove them once you are sure they are females, into another bare bottom tank. This allows you to condition the females seperatly from the males so they fill with eggs. Feed plenty of food and live foods and constantly keep the bottom clean and siphoned. Leave them on there own for a week maybe a little more. Make sure you've started your green water culture by this point. When you think they are ready, cover the floor in marbles, add (if you can) twice as many males to female ratio and some moss, lower the water level to half and only allow ambient light into the tank. Leave the fish for 3 days and then promptly wip them back into their normal setup. Add a small amount of green water a couple times a day for the first 3-4 days, also very small additions of water to the tank until it is full again. Then microworm milk for a week and after that a combination of crushed flake, microworms and BBS will help accelerate growth. You can remove the marbles once the fry are free swimming and have been eating a few days.
  13. Most of this stuff is actually relatively simple to work out. *Yes *"binge" on weed and you fall a sleep ~ binge on alcohol and you smash your wife and children * Under-age drinking and cigarette smoking is always going to be bigger problem than under-age pot smoking. I always loved alcohol as a younger man, cigarettes were easy and made me feel cool, my first experience with pot was not fun or enjoyable as the majority will also say. *The public has been educated on the "harms" since the 30's, now we are learning about all the good that THC and CBD can do for disease and human physiology, so how about instead of us being pessimists which never helps anyone, we start going "wow here is a responsible way to use something", "but how do we do that johnny", "well through the miracle of MEDICAL SCIENCE of course". *How are we ensuring there safety now? is your argument that just because something becomes legal and regulated suddenly we have this society that breaks down into this zombie style POT infection that kills us all cause everyone turns up to work stoned?! it just sounds ridiculous. Have some more faith in humanity, we don't all just want to get baked, there is just a chance for better things and i want that chance.
  14. Escapism is a very real issue but it effects 100% of us at some point or another to varying degrees. We evolved to a point where higher brain function allowed us to comprehend complex ideas and emotions, fact is, some people are ill equipped to deal with the way they feel at times. This is a terrestrial issue that was born through time and thousands of years of human development and dependents on substance. You are what you eat and it effects the next generation. Its really not an argument for the progressiveness of society through the prohibition of Prohibition and more of a complex scientific study that we are still not entirely sure on. If we look at what you've asked, we need to then ask, well, why is life "so bad"? that seems to be the clincher, why would people even want to take mind altering drugs? and when people keep throwing around this phrase "mind altering", what are we even saying? Its a very curious expression. The effect animals have on the human physiology in the private home has the potential to be "mind altering", the hormones in the unnatural foods we eat can be "mind altering". The by-products of cladding systems in your homes have the potential to be "mind altering", a bite from a certain bug, or exposure to an allergenic can be "mind altering". even the sun and moon have the ability to affect your mind. Really, however you look at it, we are products of our environments, so to separate one thing from another simply because we are still on the ancient understandings and laws of things, doesn't necessarily make a strong argument. So why take drugs? simple answer, they make you feel good. And why would they do that? because we are sensory receptive beings. What happens when we overload these sensors, or under load them - (my generations word) Buzzy-ness! Thats pretty much match and point here. Doesn't make it good, but also not necessarily bad, for what is reality, but the chance to consciously observe through this thing called light, we like to call this "physics". The argument is simply that, in order to move toward a Utopian idealistic existence, which is not an unrealistic hope of most of the world, we need to make steps and one of the biggest is to end prohibition and start looking at controlled educated regulated safer substance use across the board, because we cant stop it, but we can do our best to fix it.
  15. If nothing else, this topic has been a very interesting look at the "shift" in understanding and intelligence levels of the general public, which should be a pretty good indicator that slowly things will start to get better.
  16. Dudes, i think its time to give up, this is just beginning to revolve around the same stuff without resolution (and i think increased confusion) the point was not to argue over beer and marijuana. I'm was making a statement for a very large void in current human society that needs to be addressed by us as a species in the coming century. p.s PILSNER is lovely! and how you drink and what you drink go together, they are not separate, its NOT just one or the other.
  17. Hate to tell you this, but the government has made plenty of decisions and actively does plenty of things that have no regard at all to our health. I find it so strange when someone even links "protection" with the "government", they have the monopoly on the power, the food the water and the medicine, backed by the people who own the worlds fossil fuels, why do you think its like that? so they have control, they really don't care about our opinions on alcohol and cigarettes, they just have to look like they care. A lot of the foods you buy have a more harmful physiological effect on the body than a lot of drugs you can buy, a HUGE range of products approved safe for us as laborers to build homes with, that you then live in, 5-10 years down the track prove to be built with poisonous and carcinogenic products, lots of people get sick and die and where is the government that allowed these things into our country in the first place? Nobody's taking responsibility for it, they just chuck statistics at us and say "your fault", "look how bad you are" or point the finger elsewhere. My point is, don't bicker between each other when EVERYONE is well aware that YES there are health issues behind the class of drugs we currently deem illegal, but that goes for PIES TOO, especially over extended periods. And don't be one of these pessimistic people who scream "society will break down because of this crazy guy and that crazy guy", if you do then we've already been defeated and we've just given the real enemy ammunition. There are some huge fundamental flaws in society that WE KNOW, just don't work and prohibition is one of these things. Something to be concerned about and these are trends all over the world - The company's that began to refine sugar more and more are owned by the same people that make insulin, are owned by the same people who own the large banks, are the same people who largely control and influence government, so not only do these people indirectly have degrees of control over our lives but they also effect the food we consume in order to make us use the medicine they produce, its actually disgusting, there's proof that these are the same people that Genetically Modify's food and disguises inoculations in previous history that purposefully sterilized huge amounts of south Americans. So even getting angry at the government is pointless, when they are basically just the middle men that have to take all the flack from society, then conveniently hide issues or cloud them in political agendas to confuse and distract us and control the mainstream media/ what we are fed and told. The world is well and truly buggered when you look at it on a large scale and its more or less due to a few giant american families who where around at the right time and took advantage of a particular time period in industry. Its really up to the next few generations to set a standard of equality and transparency in society and i believe its possible.
