Tread50 got a reaction from Caryl in My Geos
Latest update, excuse the water they have just been feed so they really stir the sand up.
I am feeding only flake now and they seem to be fattening up, although one is quite a bit fatter than the rest I am not sure if I should be concerned as it is still eating well and not doing anything to alarm me.
Note: might pay to turn the sound down as my Son is learning trombone.

The loaches are in!! I think some of them are a little confused, when I opened the curtains this morning there was a group of about a dozen of the smaller ones swimming around mid-level in the water column schooling with the Lemon Tetras (who are a similar size)! The tank is certainly a lot busier now, the loaches are pretty active already, I was a bit worried they'd vanish into the wood pile and never be seen again but that hasn't happened.

Ok here's my Chocolate Zebra Hotel. 100L tank, 7 fish in there, all hiding.
Can you spot 5 of them in the dark photo?

and females will try to breed with any male that looks at them - convict females that is.

Cheers, I keep it looking clean as possible without algae build up. Apart from diatoms on the glass there is no algae to speak of, which I am happy about.
Convicts are underrated, females are the nicest imo and they have value as an interesting dither fish without inflicting damage.

That is a nice stock list and the tank is looking awesome. And yes that is one sexy convict, such great colouring.

Thought I'd might as well post an update of my current stocking. Tank is 450L (too small for full size specimens, but will do for now). Stock is 1x Cuban female (20cm), 1x red oscar (30cm), 1x jag (12cm), 1x super pretty convict female (<10cm), 1x longfin senegal bichir (20cm), 1x delhezi bichir (25cm), 1x palmas buttekoferi bichir (25-30cm).
Tank receives 50%-70% waterchange weekly and have zero problems. Cuban likes pushing the bichirs around sometimes and frequently wants to pair with the jaguar who doesn't want a bar of it.

We have finally got the clarity perfect with an industrial canister filter loaded with Poret filter foam. The glass tank floats on the pond and houses some new species that we have added to our collection. The pond has allowed us to use some really large rocks in the aquascape and Im Mclovin it. Its created an awesome feature to enjoy an ice cold beverage. Room sits at a constant 26c. Make sure that you select the HD option.

I've been pretty bred with my tank lately, to the point of contemplating shutting it down even, and it wasn't until Facebook reminded me that it's been four years since we built it that I realised why. In the twenty years I've been keeping fish this is the longest period I've ever had one tank continuously running for. And further more, it's nearly been three years since I sold my aro and went down the 'monster community' route with angels and tetras etc, which is the longest I've ever kept a single "theme" (for want of a better word) going in one tank. Part of the problem is that the tank is downstairs in it's own room, but I think a big part of the problem is that time has flown by far faster than I've realised and it has become stagnant.
I pulled down the big pile of wood to give it a thorough clean and to do stock-take on my plecs (still got 6 of the 7 tiny gold nuggets that I put in there nearly three years ago) and contemplated where to from here. I think a change up of the livestock is in order, hopefully that might reignite a bit of interest in it. Anyway, here's some pics as it is this morning, is three years a long time to keep an aquarium basically unchanged, or do I just have a short attention span....
