i know about the durso overflows and will be requiring more info when setting them up what is the secret to having the overflow sump baffles /skimmer all silent????

any other suggestion?? defenatly sound like the easiest option (and effective) i am thinking about going full barebottom in the display tank and having a starboard substitute (depending on what i can find) on the bottom with most of the rock in the main tank on a reef rack. as i think i can keep it cleaner this way than using any other method. do baffles need to be placed in the sump before the skimmer or would it only be neccessary to have them afer to stop the bubbles getting into the main tank

so fill it with rock. does it need to have any added flow? or would the overflow from the tank be enough?

for me new tank im planning at the moment on having both a small refugium and a sump (for skimmer and heater and other bits and peices) my issue is wether the refugium is worth it or not. what would be the advantages of it verses using the space for something else

5 ft high???? in centimeters might be better, im guessing its 2 feet high. id say a fluval 304 or similar, if you want bubbles then just get a pump that will make the amount of bubbles that you want

id say its to do with the water quality. it grows really well in my tank because im sure my water quality is not as good as it could be i read in eric bournemans book Coral that xenia thrives in areas that have runoff from sewage, hotels, industrial estates and the like

a pro is that they eat some pesty algae (bubble)

yeah the plumbing is i pain but fortunatly my brother in law is a plumber so i can at least get trade costs. for the cost of drilling two extra holes and all the plumbing and the pump it would be just as easy to have the two seio's (cheaper with more flow too) i actually kindof like the look of them and the streams as well :-? strange i know

do eheims start making noise after a while???

other than for circulation is there any benifit to closed loops???

where would be the bes place to drill the holes in a cube tank for the over flow and return??? im think base in the middle close to the back wall? so that the over flow is not all that conspicious. and for a closed loop where would be the best place ?? the dimension are about 600mm (but only 500 high)

is that an acan or a blasto in the first pic??? very nice, never seen any here before

id use a normal heater, much easier to access and change
