  1. im sure it is how about you keep a few of those snails for me to try listing those and your coral in the fish section they might get more hits that way (coral55 got 35$ for some really small xenia) (and did you get that caluerpa?)
  2. jo i understand what youre saying about the clean look, but lets be honest, with a bit of effort a custom job can look ten times better you cant tell me that chimera's tank looks less attractive than a prebought unit (imo opinion it is way better)
  3. i did mine on saterday hahahahah it looks like crap, but it works i experimented a little with the resistors a little and ended up going resistorless but put on a 2k potentiometer, should take a pic of it ghetto as
  4. steves right, he had some awesome stuff last time
  5. i've just done that same thing (four foot) everything is going great at the moment check out www.nano-reef.com for more info on how to setup a nano reef tips light and lots of it filtration and lots of it (you need to compensate for the smaller volume of water and make sure your over filtering) good water movement keep it in a cool place (no direct sunlight)
  6. the thing about those units is that they are still "fish tanks", break a hole in the wall and make it a part of your home
  7. the glass shrimp are the ones from the rock pools right? when i had them in my 4' they used to bite me trying to get some food. any chance of getting that pic of the shrimp in mouth posted??
  8. wow nice fish, how does your fish compare in colouration to that one reef?? what kindof goby is that fay?
  9. their smarter, imo blood :-? thats a little worrying, note to self dont get a blue tang (yet)
  10. hey does anyone else's shrimp eat from their hand? its starting to freak me out my clown does it to , which is cool, but the cleaner kindof scars me with its fastmoving hands and its tiny little pincers
  11. shouldnt you want to keep the water in the tank rather than having it overflowing? sorry
  12. coming tonight my anemone hahahahahah gotto arrange the tank so the clown leaves the torch alone and finds the anemone ahhh bliss
  13. live rock=filtration skimmer=filtration the more of each the better you could go skimmerless if you want only mushies and fish most other corals would like a skimmer and perform better with higher quality water/lighting
  14. Even though I don't know much about marine (dont laff at me) I want a tank with corals and fish and I want it to be colourful and eye catching. I want people to go "Damn, thats freakin awesome" when they look at it Also here are some questions: 1) While using a protien skimmer, do you also have to use additional external filteration? Also, what kind of fish/corals would you use a protien skimmer with? 2) Where is the place to acquire good quality Hallides and stuff 3) How do you determine where to point your power heads if you are new to Marine? 4) What is the function of Live Rock? Where do you get it from? 5) How do you make your water salty? Do you add the special salt from the LFS or do you bring in buckets and buckets from the nearest beach? 6) Where do you get sand from? And when you vaccum, wont you loose a siginificant amount of sand? 7) Where do you guys get your livestock from? Thanx in Advance thought that this would be better as its own post
  15. sorry about that outage of jetstream iduncan, we had quite a few calls about that one
  16. looks good have you planned you aquascaping??
  17. the live stock doesnt cost too much becuase you put less in than you would put in a freshwater tank, (fish that is) the corals can get expensive but you dont go out and buy it all at once major expenses in a new setup tank and plumbing *lights* skimmer (if your using one) water movement thingies (depends on what you want as to how much youre going to pay) rocks water then there are all the gadgets that other people have like dosing systems auto topoffs and controllers
  18. good to see the anemone out and about steve, i think your very blue starfish has been overlooked, and in the pic you cant really see the blue acropora in the middle heres my blueish shroom in this pic you can see where its moving to leave room for a new mushie
  19. awesome stuff reef even the ones in the back ground have coloured up more, was the central one the pale colur all along?
  20. if people want info on how to setup a marine system then the best place for them to go would be right here. right???????????? i dont mind the same question repeated thousands of times, as long as it gets more people into the hobby
  21. there you go steve a way for you to pocket some money, become a fish consultant
  22. in smaller tanks they work well, but in any thing bigger than 4' i wouldnt think they would be too effective
  23. dont lie fins, (he's trying to make us jealous) pop over if you want steve, unforttunatly there's not much to see at the mo.
