    plants

from my delving into baby's tears: Soleirolia soleirolii is commonly available in plant stores under the name baby's tears. there are aquatic plants that go by the name baby's tears - generally variations of Hemianthus Soleirolia soleirolii is a terrestrial plant, but i had it in one tank for about a month, and it didn’t seem to die back (just got eaten by my Koura) and i currently have it around my pond and it grows down into the water a bit, so might do ok in a tank?

He's looking heaps perkier now! might try taking some pics of him if I can get him to flare nicely. Has been doing it a little more now he is feeling better
  5. I was listening to that the other day... nothing like a bit of Eminem to remind you of highschool! (for me anyway)

    New Betta

so I got my first Betta the other day! (Wednesday) except... when I got him home I noticed he had a few spots of what looks like white spot on his tail. I salted the water straight away (1g/L) He hasn’t gotten any worse, but hasn’t gotten any better either. Is there anything else I can be doing for him? I have some Wunder Tonic, but not sure about using that as there are shrimps in the tank with him, and I’m not sure how they would react to it (doesn’t say anything about invertebrates on the label, but I think blue=copper=bad for inverts?)
  9. Welcome to the forum I have Riccia http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?page_id=2379&PID=RF1&EM=1 as a floating plant. Not realy sure where you can find i, I stumbled on mine randomly in the Hutt River and havent seen it before or since Bullies are cool! Just make sure you Koura isn't too big, or they might turn into snacks! Other people will be able to advise you on what you could have in a tank that size more than me, but you might be able to get away with a small group of Inanga or smelt?
  10. Natives? added bounus - you get to go and play in a stream with your kids (and fits right into the not seen in pet stores thing)
  11. speaking of Lorde - got this mashup in my playlist at the mo, not bad! Mackelmore vs Lorde http://grooveshark.com/#!/s/Can+t+Hold+Us+Royals/5d9jQa?src=5
  12. i think my cat would kill me if i tried to put her in a shark hoodie
  13. you mentioned you were going to try and raise them a while ago, that still the plan? my guys are up to their 4th spawn already. Have had one lot hatch (and one eaten) but didnt see any wrigglers at any point
  14. just read this on stuff. presumably if they hadn't been leaking he would have got away with it?
  15. you're better off recharging your dead ones with the big one
  16. where there is one there is probably more. they will tend to hang out in the slower flow areas of a stream. I would say they are shallower, but that is because where I get them they hang out in the marginal plants along the bank as there is no vegetation on the stream bed itself
  17. sweet! I bet a koura would love that rock pile, but I wonder if they might nip holes in the lining?
  18. felt longer, but less violent than the last one
  19. images can't comment on the disease though sorry
  20. bit of an update: the last batch of eggs are still there, and the bigger female looks bout ready to pop again - been in and out of the cave with the male all day :happy2: havent been able to take the koura out of the tank. noticed the male had a bit of an injury to his mouth about a week ago, but is all good now. Just saw a tussle between the male and the Koura for the first time! It was pretty extreme, but looks as though the Redfin has the Koura right where he wants him which is good! The Koura has lost one of his back legs recently too
  21. It is illegal to release fish into a natural waterway without a permit. you could maybe find someone on here who could take it off your hands.
  22. hmm, good point! Unfortunately I dont have anywhere i could put him at this stage... and I have definately got a second, bigger round of eggs, with both females getting in on the act Will the eggs survive if I move them?
