and you can mix fryeri and aulonocara (peacocks) together. i have one specices of fryeri (black fin) with my aul.stuartgranti and another species of fryeri (red fin) mixed with aul.banschi. all live happily together.
You need to decide either with the africans you mentioned which will work together but in numbers or the red jewels by themselves. At breeding time the red jewels will terrorize and kill the entire tank sometimes including their breeding mate.
Plus the red jewels prefer a lower ph.
normally wouldnt look twice if they didnt have a species name but they looked the part so grabed them. both looking sweet.
will put up pics once i get a good camera. need to sell more hybribs first :rotf:
ive got two aulonocara species that i cant id but very good looking. i have breed a batch from both (not for sale) just to see what the offspring turn out like. both came from a importer but with no name other than Aulonocara.
more a hybrib stuartgranti of some sort. its a shame there are so many hybribs around. i spent over $200 for four aulonocara from a well known lfs and even those turned out to be hybribs.
great quality photo. what camera did you use?
Nice idea re dolphins but wouldnt you like more contrast as fronts and dolphins basically the same colour.
one species of male peacocks, electric yellows, etc.
just an idea
the dems wont bother the frontosas. i would say you are going to have more trouble with the three yellows when they grow up.
nothing will pick on the fronts later on. eith get more yellows or some male peacocks
Great choice. I have about twenty and trust me when I say they really become part of your family. Mine are housed with red empress but can be housed with anything from peacocks to alto's. Justing remembering that frontosa have large mouths when they get older and whatever can fit into them they will give it a go.
How large is your tank? Will you have enough room later on when they grow up?
I have my red empress (7) with my frontosa (10) and have never had any problems. There is a bit of aggression around breeding
time but nothing serious. Just change the decor around alittle before you introduce them.
Lets just wait and see. FF how about you update the photos in 3-4 months. Its very possible that the original male was Aul.Hueseri
but bred with the wrong female. (And we know theres a crowed out there that is doing that :an!gry)
Keep us posted :cofn:
Interesting! Any luck finding out who the breeder was? Havent seen that colouration before ie blue and yellowish with a white dorsal.
Rcon what you think?
got good news and bad news
good news is ive managed to breed my johanni. :happy1:
the bad news is she only held two fry :tears:
guess i will try again next month
