  1. not many gingers do have manners. but in that situation all he wanted to do was join in, so manners go out the window
  2. I am looking at getting some of these after xmas, but I have been told we have a couple of dodgy strains of them through NZ. Is this true? Anybody keep these and know anything about this or have some first hand advice on there colouration cheers
  3. !drool: !drool: !drool: !drool: !drool: My holiday recipes are turn up to nanas, open a beer and enjoy everybody else's hard work do some dishes and go home. Thats a recipes for sucsess in my mind
  4. ohhh true, I am currently thinking about pulling my 5 out of the 2nd display tank and putting them into a breeding tank to get a couple of spawns of them. If I do do that I may consider putting them all together. but then again the fronts may see them as a tiny little cocktail sausage before the main course
  5. I have my shellies in the tank at the other end of the room, and apparntly they are not compatible with calvus as they will get in there shell and munch them away from what I have reed. From my limited knowledge we don't have many more types of tangs about I have always wanted some Enantiopus sp. "kilesa" and some cyprichromis leptosoma blue flash but i am fairly certain we can not get them.
  6. Thats was christmas is all about, family togetherness! :cr8:
  7. Rite ohh I have Fronts, leleupi, julidchromis, cuckoo syno's, calvus and moliro tropheus lined up/growing up for the project. Is there any other thoughts of fish I could add to the mix from Tanganyika? I dont overly want anymore syno's but will not rule them out completly.I was thinking about getting some fairy cichlids again but am not sure to be honest.
  8. Would this be overly true when you included all of the private sellers, breeeders and the combinded % of fish sold from other retailers? As a single % I would expect them to have a higher number but as a collective number I would think that they wouldnt be the bigger seller in the area
  9. so we are talking about humans eating whitebait not creatures eating them, now i am with you
  10. who or what is eating baby animals? You have super lost me now
  11. arghhhh trying to find tickets to go the CD Vs Cant t20 game in Nelson and I cant find them anywere! :an!gry I got my little one all excited about going to a game of cricket now i cant find the gosh darn ticket vendor. does anybody know?
  12. tank is 600 high 700 width total of 1700 high. I currently just a step stool to get things from the back of the tank. I can still cut down or remake a stand as well so stand height at the moement isnt definite. is pre planting the best option for most tanks? i have always planted after i fill
  13. ahhh I see, so surface movement is not as desired in planted co2 tanks? Would then altering the outlet to be pointing down and under the water be a better option if running a sump as it would disturbed the surface less?
  14. Thanks for the info, is there a reason it does this, or is it just the nature of the beast? Sorry my brain isnt working so trying to work this out in a basic theory. how would it leave the sump but not tank or cannister filter? is that purely because of the small lack of contact between inlet into sump and what ever the first media is?
  15. All three of thoese things have been through my mind at least 5 times before. tank it self is only 600 high
  16. Rite so I am thinking of going with the planted aro tank, looking at loosley doing a Dutch style planted set up. What is the requirments for a high tech planted set up? MH, injected Co2, timers...... what else is needed? is dry fert better then liquid? The tank I am using is the longer of the two but I am worried that doing maintance in it will be hard as it is 1700 high including stand and 700 deep so may make getting to the back an issue. As far as filtration goes, why are sump filters not recomended with Co2? Would a sump and canister set up work okay, or is a sump just plain jane pointless?
  17. Would depend on the type of torture and who is administering it. :sml1: :sml1: :sml1:
  18. they are being used for food, isnt it the same principle? especialy if the fish arnt big enough and have to chew once or twice
