  1. when = as mentioned in the do's above where = anywhere except mentioned in the donts above :-?
  2. RnB, I use NSW and stick to the rules I posted (and Pies posted) and have no problem (did in the past but the debate of NSW vs ASW and the effects of cyano seem to be irrelevant) IMO, the cyano I "had" was due to other factors (as ASW caused it too) I really want to keep off that topic though if possible!!!
  3. My 2 cents: - DO collect just before high tide - DONT collect after heavy rain - DONT collect at a bay that is not too "enclosed" (ie: has a low turnover of seawater. Try for areas, for example, that are open to the Rangitoto channel) - DONT collect near stormwater drains Check here for Tide graphs: http://ofu.co.nz/graph/tides.php
  4. thanks to Steve for holding it at his house, a reasonably good turn out and good to get the society papers signed finally! Oh, and all my love to your anemone getting better Steve  Cheers for all those who provided caleurpa for me, much appreciated (and good memories )
  5. no, this is another locally purchased pump i bought. wont mention the brand
  6. no photo's yet. will get some later this weekend. i've extended the spray bar and reduced the height of the right hand reef rack by about an inch. the new pump was faulty so had to plumb it back to the eheim. will plumb it up properly for the new pump when it's replaced. i haven't done the closed loops coz im still trying to work out the fittings for the outlets/rotating flow nozzles (need a 20mm thread going into a 15mm pipe on 45 degree bend! do something tomorrow hopefully) Got a heap more live rock which is temporarily in the fuge. this will go in the main tank but needs aquascaping (= time & patience which im lacking right now) but if all goes well, should be complete by sunday night. good news is the new iwaki is being fedex'd right now. should be here by tuesday. fingers crossed its the right one THIS time
  7. ditto re: live sand. come along sunday chris and get some rock then
  8. smuggle it in and frag me a piece
  9. ha haaa haaaaaa! who's going to look after you when your anemone dies?
  10. going to Mt Mauganui for a little holiday tomorrow... cant wait... fishies on hold
  11. if anyone has any caleurpa bring it along, i need some! cheers.
  12. I use the same (although calcium reactor not hooked up yet) + refugium and temperature controller (Pies does too but didnt list this ) I also run a Nitratereductor and a chiller (although the chiller aint hooked up either being winter and all!) Also, I got a new pump for the closed loop (5,500l/hr) so I might not need to replace the spray bar if the force is sufficient!
  13. rang him, all sand gone
  14. well I'd be pretty damn happy if I could get the live sand from Ivan too. Anyone got his number (sorry RnB, I lost it) or know if this is sold yet? if so PM me so I can call him again...!
