  3. hard to tell, could be stress, could be a lone female among males (dunno how to tell though), could be internal parasites (although that should give you signs in the form of poor condition etc....) maybe he has lost a scrap and the others are still trying to work out where he stand in the pecking order. lotsa maybes, hard to give definitive answer

saw one bodged up from a oil filter wrench once...
  5. only time water should smel at all should be when the fish have been transported in the bag for a long time. +1 on soap in the water, VERY hard to get rid of. Guppies shouldn't be hard to keep, should be one of the hardiest fish around as long as they don't get stressed (although this reputation has led to a lot of abuse. imported guppies recently have been a waste of time, good bodies, crap tails and a bit of colour, we should be producing a LOT better locally
  6. its the best, by far and to say otherwise within her hearing would be dangerous
  7. my missus makes the best carrot cake using the pulp from the juicer, adds a lemon just to zing it up, it rocks
  8. depends which 2.... 1 of those would make me change the topic to "I must be crazy"
  9. make sure you make the special cream cheese icing, thats what makes a carrot cake good!!!

    Sick WCMM

and try and keep the water green with infusoria for at least the first month
  15. I have a flying fox (currently about 6-7cm) who was put in with a school of around 8 (Now 12) oto's in a 400L planted tank. the Oto's "adopted"him, letting him swim around in their school, and even now that hes twice their size they still school with him, the other day I saw one of the oto's "T-Barring" him (or maybe her???) making me think they think its just an over sized Oto. I personally think the trick to oto's is to have lots of them unfortunately they are a bit expensive
  16. you'll spend the rest of your life wishing you could go back to those carefree days....
  17. on www.brisbanefishing.com there was a regular game of "ID the freckle" where you had to ID the fish just from a pic of its bum hole.... was an interesting game, some people were disturbingly good at it
  18. I think she's let him get another tank, or maybe a bigger tank...
  19. from the pic I think it is another one of those lesser spearworts, (Rannunculus flammeus) tends to prefer good lighting in the tank and also likes to stick up out of the water, never kept one in a tank only in ponds
  20. you'll change your tune quick enough :sage:

+1, probably with a bit of colour enhancement
  23. that would scare me, would keep wonderingif it would break, then would wake up and get disorientated
  24. actually due to a mutant gene problem, lotsa hairy calves that tend to be poor milk producers. one of the big cow semen companies is in serious trouble over it atm and they have culled most of the young calves
