  1. Im no Dr here but I think this cream is mainly oil based so should probably be ok if you wait a few hours before diving into your tanks, here is some info: Locoid Lipocream contains hydrocortisone butyrate, a non-fluorinated hydrocortisone ester [Pregn-4-ene-3, 20-dione, 11, 21-dihydroxy-17- [(1-oxobutyl) oxy (11β)-] for topical dermatologic use. Chemically, hydrocortisone butyrate is C25H36O6. It has the following structural formula: C25H36O6 Hydrocortisone butyrate is a white to practically white powder with a molecular weight of 432.56. It is practically insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ether, soluble in methanol, in alcohol, and in acetone, and freely soluble in chloroform. Each gram of Locoid Lipocream contains 1 mg hydrocortisone butyrate in a hydrophilic base consisting of cetostearyl alcohol, ceteth-20, mineral oil, white petrolatum, citric acid, sodium citrate, propylparaben and butylparaben (preservatives) and water.
  2. Think I have decided on 3 chain loaches and 2 more platys. I will get all the other fish I want for the big tank.
  3. Furan 2 - Last day of treatment will be Sunday. We were going to go on a fish buying expedition next week before our fish got sick. Deciding if we need to change plans for next week.
  4. So we were going to go fish shopping next week to add to the tank but now not so much. How long should we wait after treating our tanl before we think about adding new Fish? Luckily my class tank is fine so I can still buy some fish for that one (just need to decide on which) Miss HW
  5. Ooo - I wonder if my betta will hang out with an angel... he is all alone with a platy and a BN for friend atm.
  6. Platy is never harrassed - she has a sweet life in the tank.
  7. I have grown very attached to my guy Zeus (he even has a name) - We recently had glass cats in our home tank and we just lost all 6 of them. Will they be compatible with a Betta? (He won't kill them because they are stealing his attention)
  8. for this guy I know there are a few posts already relating to this topic and many sources on the net however I like to get information first hand, and wanted to show this guy off. He is in a 40L tank with UGF, currently his only companions are a fat orange platty and a male BN. They are classroom pets so perhaps some fish with caracter and easy care which can be kept in small groups.
  9. No - we haven't used any stuff like that.
  10. Here are some pics, please excuse the poor quality. This guy was hardly moving
  11. He will after he finishes a water change.
  12. So far we have lost 6 glass cats and 4 Rummynose tetra. The gourami seem to be holding on (nearly pulled one out as I thought it was dead but by the time I got the net it was swimming around fine again. The Platys and Rasbora don't even seem to notice anything is going on.
  13. When I fed them earlier he was moving about fine, it seemed he hasn't lost his appetite. I thought that was a little strange considering it looks like he is having trouble swimming.
  14. Put his poo in any holes he digs. If this is too hard put pepper in them... when the dog goes back to dig they get a suprise. You need to keep it up for a few days. I have a husky and this is how I trained her not to dig.
  15. I dont have any thing to test ammonia, however nitrates and nitrites are fine which lead me to believe that ammonia cant be too bad, the fuzzy layer leads me to believe that it is some kind of fungal infection. Possibly brought on by the fish being stressed while the water was cold, then flourishing (as fungi does) when the temperature was increased.
  16. I carried out a water change yesterday, i noticed the temp was a bit low (possibly due to the colder weather) so i increased it.
  17. We live in Marton so go to wet pets all the time. They didn't have many fish on the weekend. We won't be going to Palmy or Feilding.
  18. I have just come home to find one of my gouramis sitting on its side on the bottom of the tank breathing like crazy. on inspection it seems that this fish and others have a fuzzy layer on their scales and for some on their eyes. I have added tonic salt as per instructions on the bag (1 Tablespoon per 20L) and the temp is about 26 deg. What else can i do?
  19. Three day trips not an all in one trip.
  20. We are going on a fish buying/looking mission next week. Can anyoe recommend any pet stores. We live in Marton and will go as far as New Plymouth, Taupo and Wellington to look at fish. If you are from anywhere around those places can you please let us know where you go for fish. TIA
  21. Zues (our betta) is having a great swim around his new tank. Mr Bris is still on his log (nothing really excites him though... just algee) and Platy is just being platy. Will give them a couple of days to adjust and then add in some more platys and then some tetras.
  22. We bought a 40l today. We are thinking of just doing a straight swap of all the gear from the 16l to the new one. Can we just straight swap everything?
  23. cool, the new tank will only be about 50L, a new tank for out Betta and some more tank mates. The filter will be completely different and since the tanks mates will be out of our current tank i thought it would be easier to run the filter for a few weeks before we set it up so the cycle didnt take so long.
