  1. I'm going to be building one tonight, I'll be sure to take heaps of pics for you, the pump is quiet, but the drill is flat ATM.
  2. Haha lol I haven't even got my substrate Ferts sorted yet! The thing with small tanks is that you don't need a lot and most places don't sell them in small quantities... Probably will get round to flourish if I can be bothered. How do you plan to diffuse the CO2? I have thinking about something like the elite mini that every crazes about. But I'm trying to have as little hardware in the tank as possible, but http://www.trademe.co.nz/pets-animals/fish/aquatic-plants/auction-425102915.htm this looks good, says it works with DIY CO2 and it's cheap.
  3. Can I ask a few questions about your setup? What kind of lighting are you going to use? Are you going to use pressurized co2 or DIY? What kind of plants and fish are you going to have? And lastly what Ferts do you plan to use for substrate and for dosing? Thanks Matt
  4. I'd imagine as quiet as you'd want it to be. Find a quite pump, have little water disruption through the out pipe of the tank and voila.
  5. Dude, you have gotta make onE like me! Buy a 450L/H pump and build it!!! I'll draw up some plans for you later and I'll get you a link of a one I found on here  http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=55701
  6. I can see one problem so far It is recommended to remove all drinking water a couple of hours prior to giving them the Aviverm treated water, this way your birds will all get a good even dose. Make sure there is no other drinking water present before or during treatment.
  7. Hmm, it's interesting, maybe you could label what each bit is? Lol I'm bit confused but get the general idea

I don't like playing nice when the rules are bent :an!gry she said I can have any size tank outside.... Pay back time :sage:
  9. Paddling pools, baths, fish bins, plastic storage containers, buckets ect. All temporary though.

Is it unreasonable to have the turtle cleaning gear under the turtle tank now mum? It's only been there for like 6 years you know about as long as we've lived in this house.... :an!gry
  11. I have received the riccia today, it is pearling with high lights DIY co2 and some Ferts. Absolutely beautiful. Ignore the bubbles on the glass, it's in a 1L jar with a 35W halogen on it. It's Definately pearling
  12. Cheers, I'm finding equipment to be cheap, and as soon as I have enough flora I'll be off. Maybe pop a few ottos in there to help keep algae in check and maybe a nice red fighter, or a school of rasboras !drool: can't wait till this is finished. Only two more exams to go. I look forward to seeing your plans as well.
  13. I have actually just purchased a nutrafin/Hagen? CO2 reactor with the ladder of trademe as well. Just need to sort out Ferts substrate and hardscape. Almost there! :happy1:
  14. Disagreement. You can't take Red Eared Sliders over there, when I'm older I think id have to move to England or the US.
  15. Okay a few drawings of what id like to do, I'm not sure about it yet, this or, having two rock features at each back corner, then a riccia lawn, and then a stream of silica sand. And I'm most likely going with a hairgrass background. Anyway I'm not the best artist so... Tank hasn't made any progress yet, still just heater and background on... I've gotten an Aqua One AL15D of trademe (I think it has 2x15w bulbs?) which should suffice for lighting 4W per gallon or 30W per 20cm(height) of water. Hopefully it should arrive this week. BURN has sent me some riccia today , hopefully I can grow this bunch out enough to have spares for others!
  16. Probably not. They will most likely eat all the snails in a day it two. If you want a constant supply of snails, try breeding them in a separate tank. HTH
  17. I've never heard of that being used. But you can pick up pure ammonia from a hardware store for like $10 which is cheap, nd commonly used in fish less cycling.
