  1. I highly recommend eheim filters, although I wouldn't be so keen on having a heater in the unit as well - I'm having a problem with a juwel filter where whenever the filter flow drops, the heaters ability to heat all the tank water drops markedly. I use two eheim classics, never given me any problems, even when thrown about by the earthquakes

    Gambusia?

Haha, good to see that the picture has been changed and that its been confirmed to be guppies, it did have me confused for a bit there.

    Gambusia?

The seller may as well have tried to call them super guppies....

    Gambusia?

    Do look a bit sus...
  5. Thats looking really good, it'll be awesome when the crypts come into their own hey
  6. Hmmm, ok. Unfortuanaltey I quite like how the internal filter hides everything. Already running an external on mine, I might have to look at some coarse filter sponge so the internal one doesn't clog so much - Just don't want it to be pumping water around for nothing... Did you just use a razor blade to cut the internal one out?
  7. I could still see the specials when I looked on the site just before so they may still be on. Or they may be new ones for August
  8. For the trace elements, I think the easiest way would be to go the flourish comprehensive route. May not be the cheapest but it is good. As for a school of tetras, a tank that size, I'd be looking for about 30-40+, if you can fit them in, k=just because they look much better in huge groups :roey: Sounds really good though
  9. Didn't say other than while stocks last? Hopefully until next week - just remembered about the voucher I have for there, might need to pay them a quick visit...
  10. Its 6 for $21 it would seem? Didn't realise the specials were still on.
  11. The thing I like the best is the fighter that snuck into all the good photos, would she let me take a good photo of her though?
  12. Hmmm, ok, I forgot it was in the net. See what others think but it may have been a bacteria problem? Or some disease? I'd be surprised if it was movement alone that opened it up that far though
  13. Sorry to hear that. Looks pretty bad, it wasn't that bad before I take it?
  14. Yeah, the colbalt blue ones? I've got two of the males (both look the same) and two females. Haven't had any success with them breeding yet though, not even bubble nests. Not that I've been trying that hard.
  15. You could try it, but seeing that, I think you'd find it better to either go to one or many.
  16. But its so much easier just to ask again, none of this reading rubbish :slfg:
  17. Awesome Oh and nearly forgot to ask, are you still running the sponge filter only or have you/going to get a powered one?
  18. Bringing it back on topic slightly with the breeding, Sophia, you should totally try to breed your loaches, and then tell me how to do it... :spop:
  19. Exactly, its what I normally use myself... And hey, they are pretty awesome.
  20. Ah right, yeah, I can understand that hey, I'm kinda similar. As for the lighting, I think I still want it a little brighter in the long term, but thats mostly so I can grow more plants, which should in theory provide more shade and therefore have no effect on the loaches. Hopefully.... You wouldn't consider a center piece fish? I find everyone thinks the tank looks better with a brightly coloured fish for them to aw over, even though I try to tell them its the loaches that the tanks set up for mostly. :slfg: Me: "Look at the awesome loaches" Everyone else: "Oh yes, they're um great to look at - Oh thats a pretty fish!" Me: "yeah, thats just the gourami I put in to make you think my tank was more interesting.... but look at the loaches!"
  21. I guess... Any recent photos? And whats the stocking at the moment, with the new tank and all?
  22. Yeah, its not ideal but its fine for now, and I'm only growing low light plants for now really anyway. More of the loaches or different species for them to attempt to make friends with? :slfg:
  23. And you should see how much I've crammed into my tanks, poor things. :slfg:
