  1. I've got one very nice bit of wood but still not too sure if it will fit with the scheme. I've got some real nice rocks to go in. I'll be posting some shots of my options tomorrow :bounce:
  2. Sounds like you have a great setup for a beginner! Keep up the water changes, if the tank has been up for 5 weeks you should be getting near the end of your cycle. When they say your ammonia is high, do you know the ppm reading? EDIT: Just re-read the thread, do a bigger water change, say 50% and keep testing daily. What capacity is your filter rated for? A 130L tank needs some reasonable filtration in my experience.
  3. Here is the tank in it's final position. Nice new 206 and electrics setup ready to go Bracing to stop the stupid shaking from pushing it over. I have one of these on either side. If there's a quake big enough to bust it up I'll have a bit more to worry about than a broken tank! I'm yet to secure the base, will look at reinforcing that this weekend.
  4. Just out of curiosity, does a canister filter push or pull the water? Different models do it different ways? And would this make a difference? Good effort on the experiment!
  5. Yeah very cool! Also, if it's an automatic camera, turn off the flash, use a tripod and set a time delay. This should prompt it to do a long exposure and as long as you're not touching the camera (and there are no earthquakes) you should get some pretty good shots
  6. :nilly: We should make this a topic specifically for cool things we don't have photos of! Who wants to start? :nilly: Heh, I love that smiley
  7. Thanks for the tip. From what I'm reading 3 is about the worst number you can keep! I'm in no rush to get them in there and will certainly be holding out for a stunning pair That is, if I decide to go with Discus!
  8. Not so much concerned about the load, was meaning will they be happy if there is a pair or three of them or are they better kept in larger groups?
  9. I have finally started to put my project together! Equipment: Juwel Vision 180 2x100W Aquaone heaters Fluval 206 Stock 2x35W T5 fixture, no reflectors Substrate: JBL AquaBasis Plus JBL Fert Balls West Coast river sand Livestock: 6-8 Bolivian Rams 8-12 Corydoras Plants: Stargrass Large and small Sword varieties Whorled Pennywort This is all that has been confirmed. I'm hoping for a couple more plant varieties and a larger feature fish/fishes. I'm also thinking a shoal of tetra. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not a huge effort today but here is the first instalment:
  10. Not such a big fan. I'll have a look around and see if I can be convinced otherwise.
  11. What about a pair of Discus, or three? Don't think I would want any more than that. Festivums might be the way to go if they fit that water position.
  12. Good suggestion! Looks like they hang out in the lower part of the tank, going to be pretty busy down there already.
  13. :sml1: I'd say that's a safe bet!
  14. I'm not a fan of Angels but I have seen a few very nice specimens on the net. I keep coming back to Discus, I think that might be the go.
  15. Off the top of my head they are SE Asian/Australian yeah? I really like the Boesemani, planning on them for my next project!!
  16. Ha ha yeah. I've got so many people talking about fish since I started. Always getting questions about gear and cleaning
  17. Hi All, My project is finally about to come together, just one more detail I'm in need of help on. This is the style I'm aiming for... I'd like a single large fish to fill in the top and mid water but I'm not too sure what my options are. I would love a Green Severum but I'm reading that plants aren't compatible. I'm going for a South American theme with mainly sword varieties. Tank mates will be Bolivian Rams and Corydoras. Capacity is 180L
  18. That colour looks like what I need What does it look like wet?
  19. Amazing. The last photo is wonderful!
  20. You're welcome at my place! Hopefully by then I will have my native tank up and running as it was intended.
