  1. Maybe he has been reading this post :slfg:
  2. Cool, that sounds manageable. Thanks for the input.
  3. Hi all, I've got a project I'm starting in a few weeks and I'm looking for anyone who is keeping or breeding Bolivian Rams. Eventually this topic should go in the 'private trade and exchange' as I will be in the market but at this stage I'm looking for opinions and experience. My goal is to keep 6 or 8 in a Vision 180. I wouldn't mind a spawn or two but I have a couple of questions. Are they prolific breeders? ie, will my tank end up being a bunch of angry mums and dads with kids running all over the place? Could I keep more than the 6 - 8 I have in mind or am I already pushing it? What kind of water parameters have you seen good/bad results? Thanks for your help!

    Fay's Reef Tank

Just to comment on your posting worries... How many people have a marine tank that looks like yours!? You must be doing something right, if someone disagrees, just take a look at your tank to remind yourself that your system is working. Great tank!
  5. I'm going one better. Have just planned a trip to the West Coast in a few weeks Lotsa options now!
  6. +1 Get yourself a valve (http://www.tails.co.nz/fish/filters-airstones-and-pumps/plastic-airvalves), a couple of blobs of hot glue and you've got control.
  7. Yeah I have recently and he was hard to get hold of, when I did I got excuses. I eventually got what I ordered. Won't be buying from there again. Not a bad dude or anything just prefer to by from pros.
  8. Just wondering if there are any guitar teachers on here. I'm an intermediate guitarist who can throw a few songs round. I'm looking to up skill my pick hand. I play metal, metal and more metal and it is quite hard to find a teacher who can teach the skills I am aiming for.
  9. This was my initial idea but the green glow these things give off has made me a bit doubtful. I think I'll pickup a bag of it to experiment. Maybe even a black grey mix. I can see this getting expensive! Something else that may be an issue is I would imagine the tubes in the hood are either original or old. Might be an idea to get these replaced before I go looking at the finer details.
  10. I'm looking for a pretty tight setup here so I want to have good continuity throughout the aquascape. Cricketman sparked an idea this avo, hopefully I can get some example photos up by the end of the week. Btw Cricketman, those rocks aren't light coloured but are covered in lichen. They are basalt and are a nice dark brown with a rusty brown in places. I will get some detailed shots when I get them out next.
  11. That looks quite good. I wonder if I mixed some darker gravel in with it... Thanks Cricketman!
  12. Those rocks are wet my friend You wouldn't have a snap of what Dalton's looks like would you? I've gone all out with the first layer getting a couple of bags of Aquabasis Plus. Originally I was going to make it a dirt tank but decided to up the budget just because I could (for a change :happy2: )
  13. Good idea. I'm not so keen on white but if I can find an off-white. Also thinking I will need to create patches of small rubble around the base of the big rocks to make it feel a bit more natural. No one else got any ideas? What about a grey, any one used a light grey substrate?
  14. This is really one of the nicest predicaments I have ever found myself in! These are the rocks... (placement is indicative only) The left side... The right side... More accurate representation of colour... Basic layout would be these rocks around where they are with dense bushes of star grass forming a sort of green belt directy behind both groups. Maybe in front tuck some small swords or grass right up against the rocks. Initial thoughts were something like Midnight gavel around the 1mm size. Getting these rocks and seeing the green light the reflect I'm not so sure any more. What are your thoughts/ideas? Inhabitants are to be as many Bolivian Ram as space or behaviour will allow and maybe a number of Tetra and/or Corys
  15. Ouch! Stuff like that makes me grumpy! :an!gry
  16. If was going to spend that much on filtration I think I'd go for something a bit more top end than a CF1250!
