My general observation is that more uninformed people will go to animates then specialised aquarium stores is based on a few things -Animates has more outlets then the other specialised aquarium stores -Animates has more people enter the store doors because it stocks more then just aquarium items and livestock. -Animates has more advertising e.g. radio and tv I'm sure that a lot of people will get their first tanks from there. Animates sells a lot of starter kits iirc. I hadn't been to HFF till after I joined the forums and found out it was a good store.Not starting a hate thread. I'm saying that uninformed people mainly shop at animates. Hell, when I was new to fish keeping I went to animates and bought all my fish there. Knew hardly anything about the fish I bought.
