  1. Very pretty!!!! It didn't take you long to convince him to get a tank Steph You have the knack for convincing people I believe.
  2. Ahem - You're just as geeky.... (PS - I have ultimate tomorrow so can't make it to the meeting. Next time though??)
  3. Yeah looks like a common Drone fly (Eristalis tenax). If you saw it flying it usually "hovers" among flowers, etc.
  4. I basically had the same thing - but as BikBok said - it disappeared after a few weeks. I would remove it manually if I saw it starting, and it eventually never came back again. HTH.
  5. What actually is the point of it? :-? Or am I missing something?
  6. Norton is more trouble than it's worth!!!!
  7. Interesting - so getting a female any time soon will be slim.... Cheers for the info guys.
  8. I've had two male Neon Royal Red Gourami's in my 250L community tank for about a month now and one of them has been constantly building a bubble nest - full of pieces of half my plants!!! It's constantly ripping my plants apart and has started to become a aggressive towards anything that comes nearly the back corner where the nest is. Bubble nest from the top: Bubble nest from the side: Sorry for bad quality photos - they are from my mobile. Question is - i've never had any experience with gourami's breeding and wonder will they breed easily in a community tank? And are there any females around? Any advice would be appreciated.
  9. HFF has a fairly good selection of coldwater fish that malevolentsparkle has suggested - minnows, danios, golden barbs, etc... But a good filter where goldfish are concerned is a must.
  10. Sorry for you loss. It's even worse when it includes your favourites. Although, I often go to botany, because HFF is a bit out of my way, and have never had any problems with their fish dying.
  11. Oooo, I also bought some RN tetras from animates on that weekend. Looking really good at the moment, their noses are very bright red! I hope they don't suffer the same fate.... Sorry to hear about the losses though.
  12. Welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay at FNZAS! 8)

    KH Testing

I also was curious and brought a KH test, since they were cheaper during the aqua fun day, and had the same results. Water turned yellow straight away on the first drop, which at first was a little confusing after reading the instructions. But I assume the KH is either zero or less than 1...
  15. Just a common red spot pleco I believe.
  16. Good question - I was wondering the same thing for my GBA and pleco. Was the pumpkin cooked or raw?
  17. Yus! come to the good side!! I do biology (mainly ecology) and environmental science (which is basically geography). :bounce:
  18. What are you going to study at UoA?
  19. Wow it's awesome putting nicknames to faces. None of you look like your nicknames.
  20. +1 Mine always become almost square in shape, especially near its back end, and for some reason mine usually give birth late morning in a quiet spot usually near the surface (where the plants have reached the surface).
  21. That's actually put my mind at ease... :bounce: *wipes brow*
